Polygons Problem when i export .map

(pampu) #1

Hi to everyone, i’m new about level design. I’m reading the guide to how make a map but i have big problem:

  • i make the design of the map with MODO 3d, very easy only 4 polygons
  • i export like obj
  • i use milkshape to create the .map file
  • i use gtkradiant for import the map

The problem is: when i import the map all the polygons is like they became double! (i don’t speak about the triple suddivision).
For example 1 wall is like has 2 polygons overlay

Somebody know how can i fix it? Is a wrong milkshape configuration? I use the default setting, i became crazy about this problem!!!

There are others software in order to export from example from lightwave to .map? I search from so long time but i don’t find nothing

Why are you doing it this way anyways? Just wondering.

Because with modo 3d is very very easy make the design and i don’t need so long time for make difficult map with radiant is too long

Well good luck then. I d rather say use Radiant for all structure as long as its not models. You ll need it anyways when it comes to define what s structural and what s detail, and to do the VIS blocking and hinting…

i find a solution!!!

for create the .map file i use blender 3d! I import the .obj file in blender and export as .map and everything work good! (if you do the conversion with milkshape it make the triple suddivision of your .obj file, blender no and you save a lot of polygons) I just make so many test with easy and complex geometry and i don’t have problem.
