"pointer without ZONEID" "Hunk_AllocateTempMe

(Loffy) #1

Here I am, trying to create another master-piece.
I compile, and create a pk3, no problem. Then put pk3 in etmain, and start ET.
Next thing is this error message (Map never loads, Et crashes to concole):

recursive error ‘Z_Free: freed a pointer without ZONEID’ after: Hunk_AllocateTempMemory: failed on 786488

Map facts:
Total number of brushes: 22608 (mostly terrain, “func_grouped”)
Total entities: 12 (just some spawn boxes and the like, for map testing.
BSP size: About 13 Mb.

Hummer (“Kung Fu Grip”) had the same problem some time ago:

About compiling in q3map2 with the aid of a batch file: The error messages just fly by and I fail to read them, and then they are gone. What is the switch for producing a text-file-output, from q3map2? It was a funny name, like -trash or -junk, I think.

I don’t know the name of the switch but I suggest using Q3map2Toolz again. You’re able to see the complete output after compiling

If you see the errors on your console screen, you can capture it by doing a redirect, like this:

program -parameter1 -parameter2 paramtext > file

The problem went away (for good?) when I tossed out some lights and brushes.
About q3map2toolz: I will give it a try. Dl:ing at the moment.
Here is the dl page for anyone else who wishes to try it also:
