With the ability to one shot 90% of classes, and a ludicrous time between being triggered and exploding, one mine on an objecdtive can win one won game.
Please reduce the strength of Proxy's mines.
Or we can be more aware and learn to love long jumping. Or just run bomb squad loadouts, unshakeable, that delay augment.
I like the idea of the bombsquad perk, what really bugs me is the lock on perk. i’ve stepped into areas with proxy mines around corners, and have had 0 time to react several times.
There are tons of perks that reduce damage from explosives, the elusive quality that means they react slower to being triggered and spotter which highlights bombs more vividly. If the bombs worry you, then find the cards with those perks and equip them.
The thing is, that’s how the mines are meant to be used. They’re meant to provide area denial to objectives and in tight doorways and given Proxy only has two on a reasonable cooldown, it’s not like she can easily replace them unless she’s camping an area which is very unusual. Other explosives detonate them and if she’s nearby, it can actually kill her too. I wouldn’t say they need a nerf at all.
There is not a single loadoutcard for proxy with lock on, on it at the moment.
Her proximity mines are fine, they are easy to spot and emit a sound when close. If a proxy is around you can count on a mine at the objective, so don’t rush in and destroy the mine first (Explosions also trigger them so some nadespam clears the area quickly).
And lastly they nerfed the mines in closed beta a couple of times already. Because Proxy scored too many kills with them. They used to do more damage, had a bigger AOE, and lower cooldowns. Since they haven’t tweaked her since then, I’d wager that the stats are now where they should be.
I’ve honestly never been killed by a mine unless I’m truly distracted, in a gunfight, pre-occupied by someone chasing me, etc.
They make a loud whirring noise, just listen out for it., and the moment you think you hear one go off, longjump away, 9/10 you’ll escape with most of your health.
Out of all the things to complain about proxy mines? They can be seen or heard if you are just aware, the only time they kill me is when I rush to an objective without checking.
The only change id like to see is to slow down the amount of time it takes to deploy them. A number of times ive seen a Proxy kamikaze wall jumping into a group of players and throw down a mine before she can be killed. She runs and wall jumps so fast and can drop a mine so fast it ends up blowing the 3 or 4 players up. This tactic seems to be a trend im starting to see to often.
Because it’s effective. If 4 people are shooting at you, you are not getting that mine down. If you surprise them then it’s easy. Toss a mine in there, shoot it. R.I.P. Plus the mine cooldown is pretty long when doing stuff like that. If your mines are doing work then it will be a bit before you can put down another. She’s kinda like Fragger in the sense she can throw an explosive into a group and kill them all, or decimate some poor sap. Except her grenades have less range, a lower fuse time (Arguably), stay around if they don’t blow up and can sit waiting for someone to fuck up.
The mines are fine as they are.
If anything should be changed I’d rather see them be a bit stronger, as a Proxy player it’s sometimes annoying how easily ppl can run over the mines without dieing.
Or you’re close behind someone who doesn’t check and you get taken down with them because they didn’t look before they leaped…
Reminds of a game last night…me and another teammate saw the mine sitting right in the middle of the entrance to the garage in the chapel map I think it was…I mean it was blatantly obvious and easy to see. But before we could even fire at it a Skyhammer went running in and blew himself up on it.
I’ve never heard the sound of a proxy mine, what does it sound like?
You know what my favorite thing to do as a Proxy is? Throw mines into groups and shoot it before it arms. You dont even have to be in a group, Ill throw it at a single target just to get into their head. She’s a woman so I do womanly things with her like mind ninja games and make you feel like you have to walk on egg shells around an OBJ. The blast radius can be frustrating at times and other times its exactly what you need to blow that healing station up around that corner without exposing yourself.
Ill tell you what though. That 90HP and shotties makes her like, the best ever.
The damage is fine. If you step on one you SHOULD die.
The problem with the mines is you can’t flippin see them 99% of the time. If they increased the visibility it would be a million times better.
They sound like whirring fans but extremely filtered. Pretty loud, but easy to lose when there’s 8 people shooting at once.
Proxy’s mines are perfectly balanced. I only dislike how they still blow up teammates when you shoot them, but that’s just the way with bad pubs.

Mines are super easy to combat against. Maybe I can say that because I play her, a lot, but honestly If your head is in the game, you wont get owned by them. I mean, youll still probably die here and there but you wont get rekt by it. Unless youre playing against me, then its bye bye betsy timez.
