Please Read: Upcoming Dirty Bomb Name Change and A New Partnership
I don’t know who’s fault Brink was. The game felt abandon on launch day (also Enemy Territory from my experiences). If it was SD fault shame on you but I purchased my Alpha hoping that seeing how this was essentially a clone of Brink that the problem with Brink was a publisher issue and I wanted to support attempt that SD made to modernize their working formula from the Wolfenstein glory days again without the overbearing publisher/corporate tool in charge.
I hope this does not create another Brink situation by having a “partner” who is probably providing so much $$ or marketing avenues they will control how things go and any pay 2 win decisions that develop over time. I read the various Crytek articles they wrote about balance Warface for different markets since some F2P countries full support Pay 2 Win while others refuse to every play a game with that mechanic and I hope SD keeps their original intentions intact without giving in for financial angles or strong arming.
I also feel Dirty Bomb while may not “ground breaking” as name was unique enough and could pique some interest in the game and had some relevance to current world concerns to make sense. Extraction sounds like another one of those Generic named clone F2P shooters developed by a Chinese or Korean dev that no one plays and and gets canned before it exits open beta. I understand from Warface articles as well that when developing for a world market names can get lost in translation so a change may be needed.
I would just like to put out there that I hope the game is a success and blossoms into a competitive monster. BUT the reason a few of us have stated our hatred for Nexon is because they have taken many games and were not suppose be p2w became just that. Let’s not get started on their awful server hosting with insane interp. Nexon just doesn’t know how to host a non p2w with good servers and anti-cheat. It is unfortunately the truth. You gotta remember that just because the owners do not want this to be p2w doesn’t mean it will be that. Countless companies and said that MANY times and have fallen. When I hear these"promises" it doesn’t do anything for me since I’ve heard it soooooo many times before. Once again… I hope for the best.
Hey guys, first post here and unfortunately it’s somewhat of a negative one.
Being a former ET player and huge fan of competitive FPS games this is not the best of news in my opinion. I signed myself up for this Alpha not expecting too much. But as it turned out DB seemed very promising, for an Alpha I would even call it great by today’s standards. As of late though things have taken a toll for the worse. The gameplay mechanics that made the game stand out has been dumbed down (I won’t go into this more because there’s been so many posts about it already)… and now this change.
Developing a partnership with Nexon sends a huge red flag in my opinion. Especially if you’re interested in playing this game competitively. I’ve seen so many games go down in flames under companies like Nexon. Do not be surprised to suddenly see Nexon completely drop their support for the game within a few years time, also don’t be surprised to see a huge emphasis on the casual crowd. This sort of stuff is standard among these companies.
Luckily this game is being developed by Splashdamage, a company that has got at least a slight idea of what people want (as opposed to many of the korean companies developing games for Nexon and others). So hopefully we will at least be getting proper dedicated server support with rental and so forth.
I’m going on a bit of rant here and to some extent I do feel that Splashdamage cannot be fully blamed for this. It’s just the reality of gaming today. Gone are the days when you purchase a game expecting to be able to play it 10 years later on your dedicated server running your custom mods, maps and match configs.
Anyways I hope I’m wrong about this new deal with Nexon. Either way this move is going to introduce the game to a whole new crowd of players. Which is obviously a good thing.
Peace.

They work on Batman / echo / Xt and another unknown game / starting up. And only with a couple of man? I can understand if they can’t do Xt completely on their own. I mean they seem to be busy.
Fireteam are still building services for the game, stuff like friends, Matchmaking, server browser, store etc.
I’m off this train folks. If I cant get a refund, I’ll gift this to my friends 14 year old, he don’t really care what he plays as long as it goes bang-bang.
For those who want to know what to expect, here’s an example from Nexon themselfs:
1000 NX Credit = 1$ btw. So look around Nexon to see what it means with “free”-to-play.
And if you think it to be “cool” then know that that feeling will last you about a day, two at most, and you are out of 70$ for what!?
Enjoyed reading this forum, you guys are dedicated and innovative, shame it was for nothing in the end. In my point of view, that is.
Take care.

As has been said numerous times SD has full control over the monetization system & design of DB. Here’s a post by badman that should clear that up:

If that doesn’t change your mind you can find info about a refund here:

Just to inform you all… The websites reporting this information are getting 100% responses starting with “Pay to Win” followed by a more clever business module “Free to Pay” - This “Free to Pay” post someone made on PC Gamer seems to be catching on around other websites; I defended Splash Damage and the work they had done on the game just stating that I felt the game was excellent and the initial support listening to the forums to make changes to the game was fantastic; and asked for a further understanding of why Nexus means Pay To Win. The reputation may end up hurting the title more than giving it a good boost of publicity;
I am only saying this due to what I’ve read. Being a Splash Damage Fan, and a lover of Dirty Bomb (or Extraction; which I don’t understand how this could be the original name of the game - What are you extracting? where did the whole UK Dirty Bomb Explosion wind up in the lore? What is being extracted?!?! It turned a game title that originally sounded like something I wanted to know MORE about “Dirty Bomb. Let me check this out” to the most GENERIC name I’ve heard since titles like “Crossfire” or “Insurgents” - Does anyone else here take the Extraction name as a kick in the go-nads? I feel like I am playing a cheap game rather than something with substance just by the title (in the vision of a player who hasn’t played yet; that is how I’d feel going into it - if I went into it at all)
- I suppose after the Brilliant Wolf ET and Quake wars Enemy Territory - Brink came out; but even Brink being a simple name brought to the “Brink” of (Something). That had an edge literally; it was sharp as a name, and I bet it sold units on the name combined with art-style on the cover and screenshots for lots of consumers; “Parkour in my CoD with BF like objectives and classes? Sounds great! Time to test the brink of gaming!” - Thought of some random guy who walked into gamestop and stumbled upon Brink without knowing Splash Damage"
- Extraction almost tells the consumer “Get out. We are getting out as well. We are leaving the redzone and heading to the greenzone, the war is over.”
Kotaku has a brilliant (sarcasm, it enraged me) comment that I began to explode on that posted this exactly: “The only thing that this game is Extracting is crap from my ass. It attempted to Extract money from my wallet after each kill, thus I extracted my jizz lob onto Extration and get outt’a thar”
Anger. is just how I feel; perhaps my words are misguided by the real bad feeling in the pit of my stomach I had while reading all the negative comments towards the game - that had nothing to do with the game itself; just the partnership announcement. I know if it feels near devestating to a community member and lover of the game, then it must really hurt as a developer of the title - We all want to see this game succeed, become a top tier competitive FPS, in regular conversation with CS GO/BF/COD but every step that brings hope of seeing the game we love succeed seems to narrow and then split into a fork in the road; after so many forks you don’t know where the hell you’ll end up. (I just woke up - that made sense and sounded clever when I originally typed it).
This I touch up in my post; even with something after Extraction it feels even more gimmicky; a name like “Dirty Bomb” really felt UNIQUE, especially being an FPS - Seeing “Dirty Bomb” and watching a trailer seeing the hazard radiation zones on the maps - gave a sense of urgency the name carried along with it; the area is F’d to all hell - You are fighting in the ghost town like cities and towns of a post-Dirty Bomb UK.
extraction if I saw it advertised on google; or say “Steam F2P list” I’d extract out of there with the back button just due to a name like that not grabbing someone who has seen so many free to play CoD Knock offs that followed the F2P CS GO Knock offs all with horrible “Lets take a word or terminology used in Modern Conflict’s” (I added the Modern to show as an example that f2p fps title “Modern Conflict” -laughs- I never even bothered to look at a damn screenshot of Modern Conflict.
Welcome to the internet.
People will say a lot of crap stuff, discussing it is fine but don’t bother with the crap posts. You shouldn’t worry about it either. Once Extraction is open for the masses to play the only thing that counts is having a very solid game, the rest will work itself out.

I understand; but having such a deep <3 for the game - seeing these stream of comments none aside from myself thus far supporting it (if anyone has time post a few works saying “Game is great - ignore the others” etc - Gaming has changed with how gaming website comments to articles effect the opinion of a game to not just some people but larger demographics - articles get shared to facebook, retweeted - and the trolls will add in a snark-arse comment in the tweet; it gets a bunch of views and we start with a bad reputaiton =/ that my worry.
I just hope that the game will really be free to play,
everything (i mean classes/mercs) can be unlocked by playing a few dozen, and NOT hundreds of hours.
If you get a few quick unlocks, but then have to play 50-100 hours for the next unlocks, it´s free-to-test, but pay-to-play.
I´m really concerned, i won´t play this game if it gets like combat arms or crossfire where you can pay for ingame advantages.
You can even pay for fukken crosshairs!
