PLEASE make mission progress track live progress

(frostyvampire) #1

I know that in Execution your mission progress saves every time a round ends and in Stopwatch it saves your progress in the first half after the half ends but this is not enough. It should update every second (or every minute if it somehow causes lag or idk). I know that your xp and credits you earn are saved so why not mission progress too?

I often play for like 10+ minutes on a server, topscore and I obviously would’ve finished the missions even if the match ended instantly, but then my game crashes or I get kicked randomly (security violation, server crashes and connection lost or just a random kick without a reason) and it’s so annoying.
Also if I needed 10 support xp to finish a mission, why can’t I just join a server, drop a med pack and then leave? Why am I forced to play for the entire game just to complete the missions?

(Szakalot) #2

we need to provides incentives to STAY on the server, not to promotr more ragequits

(Jostabeere) #3

I don’t need Engineers who run to the 1st objective, plant 1-2 bombs/repair the EV and quit since they got 1K objective EXP for their mission.
(I would do it that way if I could quit and I don’t like it, sorry)
P.S. Besides that. If you crash sometimes, bad luck. If you crash frequently, you might have a problem.

(supergonzo) #4

When you need 10 XP to finish a support mission then play one round execution cancer.

(DarkMatterMatt) #5

Does one round save? Thought it had to be a whole game of any mode to save?

(supergonzo) #6

Progress is saved after every round (execution/stopwatch)

What pisses me off is that if your missions refresh while you’re in the middle of a match, that match’s progress doesn’t go towards them, even if it started five seconds before the missions refresh. Live tracking should be a thing… and we should also be able to check mission progress while in the game!

(n-x) #8

@PewPewSkittles I think this is because, when you still have active missions and you are in a match when the new missions come in the XP still counts towards your old missions, thus giving you some extra time to complete them.

(PewPewSkittles) #9

@Kelben But my missions were already done. I was in a 30 minute Stopwatch match when my old missions had been done for two and a half hours, it started a minute before the missions refreshed, none of the xp went to the new ones.

(n-x) #10

@PewPewSkittles That is what I tried to explain. They lock the mission status when you start a match. It has the advantage that you can still collect XP for not completed missions. The disadvantage is, that you dont collect XP for missions that come in during the match.

The only solution to it is, that the game checks with the mission refill, if there are still active missions. If not, then your XP count towards the new ones.

@PewPewSkittles
Then wait 1 minute before starting a game. Ez pz

well, a rage quit fee of 100c should be painless to those who complete the game. If you join and finish the game, 100c is returned; otherwise, you RQ and lose. In the event that you lose connection legitemately to the server, then 100c isn’t such a bad loss. It’s only bad if you RQ and lose 10x and this statistic should be public to all players

mission completion could very well be a high incentive to stay on the server.

Rather than punish people with ‘credit fines’ its much better to push the carrot away a bit. Stay on the server or do not progress in your missions (so lose credits).

Works.

Why save AFTER the round has finished?

Exactly this. Not only do u join a game and not care about the objective, you also hog a spot. Imagine when you are playing a game and people in your team keep coming and leaving every minute.

Honestly, if you need only 10 support exp, go to server browser and join an almost ending game.

(PewPewSkittles) #15

@FrostyVampire The missions refresh an hour before I have to go to work. I was in a game with my friend and he didn’t want to back out just so I could wait five minutes. So I ended up wasting half an hour without any of it contributing to my missions like I thought it would. It’s a mildly frustrating thing and an example of why your idea in this thread of live tracking is a good one.

(frostyvampire) #16

@perkyCab
It was just an example…

(Mc1412013) #17

i think progress should be saved. but not for people who quit at there own will. if the server crashes or the famous ngs crashing issue it should save. im tired of the server crashes clearing out the xp that i worked so hard at. some times i can kill all 3 mission in one game and thanks to a server crash i loose it all. time and xp

(jokingShale) #18

This is a very bad idea because people would quit servers even more than they already do.

This is, in theory, a good idea. But it seems like a thing that would be very hard to implement, the servers are crashing after all. They should focus that development time on stable servers instead.

(PewPewSkittles) #19

@jokingShale I think the game itself is a good enough incentive to stay in a server and continue playing the game. There wouldn’t be an exodus of people coming in and getting out, the reward from that would be minimal and it’s hardly an exploitable thing anyway.
Besides, people already ragequit or abandon their team without live tracking, so you’re predicting a problem that already exists as is and keeping the do from the time one played would do nothing to exacerbate it.

The problem already exists, but that’s not a reason to remove one of the few things ameliorating it. If anything we need more reasons to keep people in games until the end, not less.
