Hello guys…

I have been trying to figure out what gives that horrible feeling to the mouse every now and again that causes us to feel like the FPS is below 10 when its actually over 100.

I have a feeling that its due to CPU stutter/lag OR the game missing the mouse movement on certain frames. If you notice your mouse stuttering (only happens for a few seconds) kinda like what happens when someone connects to the server. Will you try and have a quick look over at your FPS and let me know in this thread if the stutter was no aligned with the FPS.

Just in case the stutter is not actually aligned with the fps but rather unreal engine not getting inputs.

well i have from time to time a huge input lag on mouse for like 10 seconds, that ends with crushing the game.
i have this once or twice a week. not very often.

(ailmanki) #3

It is cpu lag. Obviosly if your gfx is weak you also get into troubles.

Well I got my GTX 970 installed, but will have to wait till the weekend to actually test it. One thing I’ve been doing forever is capping my FPS in the cfg. I also find that enabling vsync really helps reduce the visual blurring/tearing, but is of course problematic if you can’t maintain a stable frame rate. I’ll record my games this weekend and review them for noticeable issues.

(spookify) #5

Enabling vsync u say…

Do you cap it at your monitor refresh?

I have 144hz monitor so I will cap Frames at 144 and turn vsync on? If right I will try at lunch haha…

I get what pic is talking about all the time… I look and I am at 100 to 200 frames but feels like 10! I also get mouse a lag and what appears to be hit register lag…

My game has been this way for soooo long now…

I even turned oneframelag to False last night to see if this would help…

If you can unlock the answer to this! OMG <3 :o

FYI when this happened the first thing I would do is close out of the nexon launcher… Cant do that anymore…

(ailmanki) #7

One thing to try would be to disable in nvidia profile auto threading. But I have the feeling there is nothing we can do on our end.

(spookify) #8

nvidia profile auto threading… Is that something I do on my end?

I have SLI fyi

(spookify) #9

I used vsync on for the first time at lunch just now and set everything capped at 144 and seemed to look smooth…
Oneframelag True

I was insta killing people on a euro server…

The mouse felt like there was a little bit of a lag in it but smoothest the game felt in a long time…

A lot of people were joining and quitting the server and it was horrible! Huge lag spikes when people would join and quit…

Yes its on your end, http://www.tweakguides.com/NVFORCE_6.htm
Threaded Optimization its called, sorry.
It might help, but I somehow doubt it. As I had tweaked the game a lot, even tried command line options, and I suppose there is something in the backend which is going crazy.

http://udn.epicgames.com/Three/CommandLineArguments.html#User
Its a while ago I used the launcher, but it was possible to add arguments somewhere in the options… As DB is kinda custom build of udk, those switches mostly have no effect at all… So if you want to experiment, there is plenty more now I guess .harhar

Well this is kinda funny… I’m getting ‘okay’ performance with my new card, but even on my old config it’s not as consistent as it should be. It’s definitely better than before I suppose, but I was hoping I’d be able to play at higher graphics smoothly. I’ve been monitoring my hardware while playing and my CPU is only being used 20-40% and my GPU maxes out at 40%. My last cards were at 100% load, what gives?

I’ll post some recordings later.

I have a funny feeling that the lag is due to network and not due to GPU power.
However 20-40% on the CPU makes sense because unreal engine only really cares about a single core. so if you check in more detail you will see that one core is at 100% and the rest hardly being touched. This could be one of the big reasons for some of the problems.

Welcome to the party hahahaha! You now have a card that is better then mine and sort of seeing the problem I have been QQing about

You can probably better articulate it then me though…

SPOOKIFY SMASH KEYBOARD BECAUSE SCREEN LOOK LAGGY!!! WHY NOT FIX!!

Inferno you should do the empty server test and flip oneframelag on and off with the new card…

UGH, really… It doesn’t use all our cores? What about RAM usage?

(INF3RN0) #14

one frame is about 100fps as per usual. The consistency issues only appear to happen when the server gets around 8 people in it, after which the stutter begins.

(spookify) #15

Boom!
What we have been saying

You get any FPS drop from alone in a server to 8 people? (You would uncap your frames)

Huh, that’s what it has always done lol.

(spookify) #17

Is the launcher using a lot of CPU?

(INF3RN0) #18

Updated my Bios tonight, seems to be a bit better, but still not breaking the 50% use of my gpu… shows all my cpu cores being used, but only up to 40% max.

(spookify) #19

When I stat fps I lag more…

(Seanza) #20

Placebo effect
