If Dota2 was like Dirty Bomb…
Please... Just remove the TEXT from objective markers...
just remove the objective markers after a set level - say 2 or 3.
no doubt this can be useful for newcomers, but it’s a bloody nonsense that maps you’re likely to play for 100s of hours have to have markers everywhere. same story with intros / outros.
or leave the objective markers but give us a command to deactivate the text.
I also agree the intros have to go…
If you insist on an intro make it motioncaptured with our mercs and skins… (may help you sell more stuff)
Basically, make it interesting for us to watch or remove it completely… I BEG YOU!
The text on the last objective of Canary Wharf actually separates the entire room in half and obstructs view. That’s pretty terrible.
I must say this is one of the reasons I can’t get a good overview of the battlefield. It makes it hard to focus on the enemies than trying to dodge the objective markers. In previous versions we were able to make the markers completely transparent, that was a delight.
And please don’t make them any smaller it’s not gonna work. Just give us the option to completely disable them!
Just move em to the top or bottom of screen…
Heck, it can’t be that difficult.
Besides the obvious option to disable them totally.
On top of this, as mentioned before should we really have indicators telling us that an objective is being built/hacked or that someone has planted etc. Just seems like we’re spoon feeding players the whole time and removing the element of sneaking around that you could always try in previous games. Now if you sneak past the all too often spawncamp on Terminal the best you can do is time your wall plant so it misses the nearest spawnwave, before the ‘Announcer’ gives the game away…
Leave them on for new players but make a setting for the rest of us to disable them.
At no point in W:ET, ETQW or Brink was it ever possible to do these objectives unnoticed. And with good reason. If the objectives would be silent then people would have nothing to respond to and the game would resemble something closer to team deathmatch.
Eh? As defense it’s your job to defend the objective - if you leave it completely unguarded so you can push the offense back into their spawn then you deserve to lose the objective. There’s a balance to be struck between giving meaningful cues and just giving everything away.
A significant percentage of the new players is playing this game mode as Deathmatch already. If the indicators are removed then that percentage will only go up.
Just saying.
I’m sure most would agree that matches where teams are not giving each other a single inch are the best matches. The defending team can’t have that playstyle if they need to babysit the objective. The objective would become such a liability that they’d be forced to camp it with the entire team.
So in this sense I fear you’ve got an overly idealised form of superb near-omniscient players when considering this scenario.
That is a bit of an exaggeration. At least the recent update or updates have made it much better.
Also dota2 has one map…
