Please help

(JesusIsMySon) #1

Hello everyone,

I recently just began playing this game and my computer has alternative purposes for the f1-f12 keys so I cannot switch merc choices in-game, alternatively, I am not permitted to respawn, it says press %a to re-spawn when I know it’s the space bar.

Is there any method to change this? in the control section(which is very limited) It is not included, please help!

Go into Documents\My Games\UnrealEngine3\ShooterGame\Config and you’ll see ShooterInput.

Look for:
Bindings=(Name=“F1”,Control=false,Alt=false,Shift=false,bIgnoreCtrl=true, Command=“CharacterSlot 1 | VoteYes”)
Bindings=(Name=“F2”,Control=false,Alt=false,Shift=false,bIgnoreCtrl=true, Command=“CharacterSlot 2 | VoteNo”)
Bindings=(Name=“F3”,Control=false,Alt=false,Shift=false,bIgnoreCtrl=true, Command=“CharacterSlot 3”)

Change those to whatever you need them to be and save the file. Right click it and set it to read only.

As for fixing the spacebar issue, I’m not sure how to fix that. Is spacebar still allowing you to respawn?

Edit: I see you are not allowed to respawn. I’m still looking into it.

I assume you’re using a system (laptop?) with a function key to allow normal use of the F1-10 keys. If this is the case, you can usually choose the default behaviour of the F keys within your BIOS, making it so that pressing your function key + F1 or whatever will either enter “F1” (and in this case, change your merc) or do the alternate purpose you mention, like adjusting your system volume.

If spacebar isn’t allowing you to respawn, go into your keybindings and see what’s bound to jump? Check that it’s spacebar. I believe the respawn key is always your jump key.

Other than that, and what @Harlot has already said, maybe post a bit more info about your setup if none of this works for you.

I did not know that respawning always bound to jump. He can edit that in the ShooterInput, as well.

Thank you very much I’ll try this now

I could be wrong, but I think I’ve seen it mentioned elsewhere here recent-ish-ly.

Finally, It will let me play,

Sadly, harlot, I attempted to change the command button but it didn’t work, but I found out my function key was applying incorrectly because the window wasn’t full, thank you for assuring me backuplight!
