Please help a fellow mapper

I could make nice RtCW maps but this Command map stuff on ET i dont get at all.
Ive been trying to make it work for about 2 days now and still my game hangs when i want to open limbo menu.

I read the other post about it and the manual but i still cant get it to work !

I have a square room with an info_player_deathmatch in it, i made a square brush in the topleft corner and a square brush in the bottom right corner en placed the coordinates in the maxcoords en mincoords in the worldspawn entity.

I allso made a 512X512 picture and saved it as mymap_cc_tga (replaced mymap with the mapname i have). as there was no “levelshots” directory i created one in my ETmain map, and saved the .tga in.

Then i created the levelshots shader and placed the code in accordingly to the manual.

I tryed many variables but they all result in freezing when opening limbo menu :frowning:

Im hereby requesting that some nice fellow mapper who has complete understanding of the command map would make a step by step tutorial on the bare essentials to make a map work in ET,…pls !

Im not a noob, i made maps for RtCW, but i just cant figure out this command post and what im doing wrong :banghead:

If all your trying to do is get into the limbo screen you don’t need to create a command map just yet. Open your worldspawn entity properties window and enter in the mapcoordsmins and mapcoordsmaxs keys and values. Then et will know how big your map is and create a default command map accordingly.

If that wasn’t very lucid please read the “map basic requirements” thread.

As the splashdamage detail may not be great for some I have done a very, and I mean very quick tutorial of getting your map working so you can run around in it.

I had to do it in notepad as well so no laughing please!

You can find it here

But beware I may go over my bandwidth restrictions rather quickly :frowning:

A cookie to the person who spots the “intentionaly” slight mistake

For the first set of co-ordinates if you dont see any numbers goto view>show>show coordinates or simply hold your mouse over the top right of the brush
