Please for the life of me separate skins from loadouts

(AnimeDude) #1

The fact that loadouts are directly linked to what loadout you have completely massacres almost all hope for customization in this game. Everyone would benefit greatly if they were separated and skins were free to use on any loadout at any time instead of always having to sacrifice looks for performance on a better card. The only things there really are to buy right now in this game are RNG boxes (which near no one is willing to buy) and mercenaries.

Say I want the shard camo on a specific loadout for proxy or whoever. I would grind week after week to finally be able to trade up for a cobalt proxy, the chances of me getting that specific card in that specific camo are stupidly slim, this is ridiculous. Even if I do actually miraculously get the loudout, it’s still a coinflip on if I get the camo I want. Wouldn’t you rather just pay for those camos instead? I’m sure some founders would rather have different loadouts to use their nice skins on, but no, they’re all forced to use the same cut and paste loadout if they want to show off those skins. Allow us to grind credits or just use real money to buy the skins and allow us to apply them to whatever loadout we want. This would give people with massive stacks of credits laying around something to actually buy. You could even make us have to unlock them individually for each merc (say, unlock bamboo on aura, and only aura).

Say for each merc:
Base camo - Free w/ purchase of merc
Lead -1000c ($0.50)
Iron - 3000c ($1.50)
bronze -7000c ($3.00)
Silver (Urban or Carbon)- 10000c ($5.00)
Gold (Swiss, Crown gold, or Bamboo) - 50000c ($10.00)
Cobalt (Fragment or Shard) - 100000c ($20.00)

With credits, you must unlock the previous tier to unlock the next. “Waw that’s so expensive no one could afford that” about 2 mission cycles a day for 3-4 days nets you 50k easily. All current loadouts would have their camos removed and prices compensated for the amount they originally cost. I don’t really know what to say anymore, but yeah, this would hopefully give us an incentive to actually have something worth buying besides a trinket or two.

getting a loadout you want is actually cheap, 17k of gold. Talking about skin colors…I think your idea would ruin SD’s business model. This is where they make money you know. I think those who are truly dedicated to this game already have their fav loadouts in the desired rarity.

The release times of mercs are too far apart for even inactive players to not be able to buy them the second they release.

I don’t think anyone has claimed these loadouts are the final iteration

The rng is the business model of the game. If you can have a cobalt for 100K, it’s almost 8 times lower than actually cost of a cobalt.
If you can have all card you want easily, no card will be rare.
As one said before, you can have the loadout you want for 17,5 K, all above is cosmetic, so rare. I don’t want to have cobalts the new cheap loadout.

This has been asked for many times, but unfortunately, will never happen. They have said a number of times that for the time being they are sticking with the system that they have now.

Honestly, there are dozens of other business models they could have gone with that would have been far better. CSGO popularized (to the best of my knowledge) the RNG case system and it has stuck with many developers despite the fact that it is super anti-consumer.

Maybe they will go a different route down the road for a Dirty Bomb 2 or something, but for now we’re stuck with it :frowning: .

I just read “Dirty Bomb 2” and I’m like… “Dude, this game’s been in beta for like 3 years already probly, dirty bomb 2 is gonna be released next to half life 3”.

Yeah maybe I should have just hopped in my time machine and did just that. That also changed nothing with how skins work, they’re still purely RNG. Sure you can decide which weapon you want now and that increases your odds, but other than that nothing has changed.

well i missed that thread and made my own

your idea seems cool, but i think you could add that part from my thread with default cards shop, and the prizes are too big (money prizes not credit)
