I know exactly what you mean, 5v5/6v6 min level 30 servers with FF on would most likely solve it but SD simply cant be bothered to give us those.

@PurpleHippo I doubt anyone would use them. I don’t see too many 30+ players on the servers. Even if you did manage to find more than 3-4 players at the same time on that kind of server, it would probably be the same hand full of people that you fight every day. Gets boring really fast.

Maximum level 10, 20, minimum level 20 servers would be good additions. Forced team switch when a team has 2 or more players than the other team.

Or, you know, do it right and make it skill weighted as to whether you can join the server instead of something that doesn’t factor in a player’s actual skill and doesn’t scale well over time.

We all already have private ELO rankings for the sorting algorithm to use while in a lobby so why not make servers use that number to see if we can join or not? Beginner, Open to all, Veteran and Advanced. It’s similar to what we have right now with Max 5, Open, Min10 and Min20. It wouldn’t fix balancing pubs because that is pretty much impossible due to about a million reasons that come to mind. But it would go a long way towards making more matches balanced while getting people better pub experiences for their current level of play. And if you want to play with your newer friend but you’re a Veteran than go join the Open servers.

Or simply get rid of the Nexon server pubs when community servers become available and make the entire game 5v5 queuing with unranked and ranked and allows you to queue with friends. That would fix everything from matchmaking times to map balance to merc balance to sorting balance to analytical balance for targeting buffs/nerfs to feeding the competitive community easier by allowing players to quickly transition from unranked to rank…basically everything. And we can still have open pubs that are ran by the community. Win/win.

This will always be the best option. Virtually no community in this game makes it extremely stale to play.

i tried to get into ranked matches but the huge amount of toxic players, teamkilling, and broken balance (4vs5-3vs5 etc.) Makes ranked matches not fun to play
Even if the devs would start paying me to play ranked, i still wouldnt play it

Yes i’ve been in countless matches where the lvl 50 or so would play one match on one team then switch teams and play defense twice so annoying.

Im not level 50 (yet) but i usually do the opposite if Im the obvious imbalance (which happens every now and then). Playing as attacker twice is actually more fun on Chapel for example.

Guess I went too far, I apologize for you two. I’m sorry. May be I’ve seen way too many dick high levels in Asia server who always change their damn sides for 100% win rate.

But about the bad composition, and private MMR, I really want to emphasize that even the MMR is working fine, the gap between high level player(considered as high skilled player) and low level players who barely graduated MAX level 5 server in normal pubs is super huge, so that even I can clearly guess which side is going to be win or lose even before the match starts, if there is way too broad level gaps in the match. Because I know they will literally do nothing.(which is understandable, but very painful as they are the main reason why you get the bad composition.)

Yeah I also know good players level up fast, and I’ve seen very good low levels but it was VERY few. Most of the newbies are very vulnerable from Stackers, dirty team changers, and DB clearly has its issue about the balance. They are ruining the whole balance by abusing the team changing system that makes what MMR did in to useless thing since the auto balance only does its work at the beginning of the match. What I did? I struggle to prevent newbies from stomping, and get my scores wrecked, cause I always tried to balance team by myself.

and even if there are no stackers or team changers in the game, if the level gaps are too wide the game always just goes ‘which high level is going to stomp low levels faster, or more than the other high level in opposite side’.

So I just really wanted to say first thing needed for balance is most likely the spreading players based on their skills(‘level’ might be more accurate since DB is using the level for criteria, which is somehow very inaccurate. But min level 10 servers really helped me a lot from those problems.).

I was really astonished how many low levels and low skiller players there were in regular pubs when I first visited US WEST and EU(last year with 300 ping), and how I controlled the whole damn game’s balance only by myself among 15 people as high level by myself. Never stomped newbies after that, and always tried to activate min level 10 server with other high levels I knew, evading normal pubs by looking on average levels.

Anyway, I was twisted quite hard. I am very sorry.

We are working on better in-game balancing.
Please understand that this isn’t coming out with the next patch, or possibly even the one after that, but it is something we take seriously and we want to get it right.

I understand that seems like forever, but like I said, we want to make sure it works and it fits Dirty Bomb.

There’s no way to get 100% balance 100% of the time but I think making more lvl based servers could at least make it so less high lvl players end up with the low lvl players. I’d suggest:

  • change max. lvl 5 into max lvl 10 or add max. lvl 10 servers next to the max. lvl 5 servers
  • less servers with no lvl requirement
  • more min. lvl 10 servers
  • add min. lvl 20 (or lvl 30) servers
