Please add the abiltiy to set a constant framerate in the options menu.

Here’s the most desired framerates depending on your PC. I just hate having to mess around with the inis every-time to be able to set a constant framerate I want. This is an option that should of been included in pc games long time ago, but they were to busy going backwards because of consoles.

People are just too lazy to type it in a console.

I would like an automated system that runs a timedemo, then uses the results to set your graphics settings accordingly. I also liked websites such as upsetchaps that had pre-built configs for low, med and high gfx settings etc.

or an fps cap? like fps_max or com_maxfps in console ?

It doesn’t really matter as I intend to use the dev console and maxfps.

What’s the point of having a GUI then?

60 fps is considered standard by most, 62 because then tiny drops will occur between 60-62 and not 58-60. At least that’s how I noticed things worked playing around with UT3.

45fps for those that can’t reach 60fps. I’m not mentioning 30fps because I saw how UT3 ran on the PS3 and was traumatized. May include it if you wish though…

90fps for those who can push their PC’s a bit more, significant improvement for those with trained eyes.

125fps is what I consider optimal. After 125fps things normally starts to get dodgy with the netcode. Also a few games use it as their limit, 120fps is the limit for UT3’s multiplayer (LAN connection)
Heroes of Newerth’s limit is at 125fps (Their servers also run at 125fps). That’s one of the reasons why they have such a great netcode too.

A rate is still a rate. They’re not fixed numbers. It’s an averaged rate you’re setting a cap on. Traveling 120 miles in a time of 2 hours doesn’t mean you did an instantaneously measured 60mph the entire trip. You went 25-30 to leave the neighborhood, then 55 to an expressway, then 65-80 on the freeway. Framerate is the same way taking place in microseconds.

High fps just means there aren’t any negative spikes.

All of those numbers will make the screen look the same if the system can stably do them.
