Playing randomly random sounds

(nonoMapper) #1

Hi SD forum,

i hope someone can help me a little bit since i did not find anything about it on google. It’s probably somewhere but me did not find it.

My question is that if it’s possible to randomly play a random sound at a random time interval.
It is also important that the sound is played whenever a player gets killed…randomly.

If yes could you please point me in the right direction to look at or a map that has this where i can check the script.

Thanks in advance.

You won’t be able to do this with map scripts.
You will need to do some Lua scripting or custom modding depending on which mod you’re running.

What kind sounds were you thinking of, in what context ?

Ok i was afraid of this.
I wrote you a PM - i hope that’s fine for you.

From what I understand from your PM is that you want to randomly play sounds after a kill event without modifying the mod (UltraET), which doesn’t have LUA.

If UltraET indeed doesn’t have LUA support you can use our magnificent GameMonkeyScriptmod(GMSM) which is a QMM(Quake3MultiMod) plugin. GMSM sits between the engine and the mod(UltraET) which leaves the mod intact while changing the gameplay.

You can find GMSM at http://maintain-et.net/etlive/gmsm.php.
If you download the 1.1 version you will find some example scripts, and if you take a look at NeelixScript.gm, you will find a GMSM_KILL_EVENT method, this is where you have to implement your feature.
There should be a QMM tutorial floating around the interwebz somewhere, but you’ll have to find it yourself.

If you need help I can assist you.
