Playing Medic / Revive

(competentIncrease) #1

Mutiple times I have revived my teammate only for him to then be instantly gibbed?!?!? This new change defeats the purpose of being med as any good team/player is will gib/start to gib a down opponent.
Why was this change introduced? Will it be changed back? If not, will you consider increasing health to medic mercs to make up for the loss in battle revives?

Medic isnt supposed to revive somebody in the middle lying down in the middle of a battle. (well you can) but the removal of this shield is pretty good. No more insta revive shoot kill die revive crap with aura camping…

The revive shield has been pushed back so it activates only once they fully stand up. This is to counter sparks insta-revives, so you people have a chance to finish the enemy before they’re shielded.

i play sawbones but i think it was a change for the better.

Yes there is still a rez shield but there is now a “window” for people to gib the enemy b4 they are fully back on their feet. Needs a bit of timing now if u are going to rez someone but still workable from a medic point of view

Medics have gotten their just deserts and are no longer able to low risk/guaranteed reward revive.

think it had more to do with the sparks zap res gun being able to rez b4 the melee animation was able to gib that brought about the change

Quite possibly, she definitely deserved it. Not sure why not make that change only affect her if that was the case though.

I don’t play Sparks so for me it significantly defeats the purpose of playing medic. As sawbones and aura I am not reviving from a safe distance and am putting my character in the line of fire to help a stronger player. By doing so I take uneccasry damage that a sparks would not. When the player is gibbed post rev, it makes my entire action obsolete and unwarranted. Just my thoughts on how this change greatly reduces the efficacy of sawbones and aura compared to sparks. Would be nice to have it only affect sparks

its a change to how the rez shield works isnt it? so its not a change to “medics” at all.

The change just effects how medics do their job.

It does what most wanted (opens a window so players are able to gib b4 sparks can rez) and doing something else - that would just effect sparks - was prob too hard / messy to implement

I’m on the fence about this change. Granted I haven’t seen much of it in effect so far. And it sure does its job of preventing revivetrains.
But it feels a bit like when Martyrdom could be cancled, just for medics. Even tho you do your job and get a revive in, the enemy can instantly undo your work and all they gotta do is shoot a non moving target fast enough.
Another problem is, now a medic has to ensure that the battlefield is empty i.e. he has to play cleanup for the guy that is on the ground. Which means medics quite often face a 2-1 or more situation and have to have excellent shooting skills, just to do their job. Before hand someone with not so good shooting abilities, could pick a medic and still be useful for the team.

Would be interesting to see some stats on how this change affects/shifts the XP gains on medic classes.

Well I don’t feel like I’m killing the same guy 5 times in a row any more so I can’t say I’m displeased.

Ok found something that I don’t like about the new system. When you die in the revive animation you are landing in the current respawn wave. Most of the time thats a non issue but if you get revived when the respawn time is allready up (you could click to respawn) and killed in the revive animation you are looking at a long spawn, without any way to prevent that (unless you tap out on the medic).
