Playing DB on Linux (Wine)?

(abelthorne) #1

Hi,
Got a beta key yesterday and I’d like to give it a go on Linux through Wine. Looks like the Nexon launcher installs but gets stuck when trying to update. And its window is completely black.

Anyone tried to play Dirty Bomb through Wine?

Hi, First off, are you using Ubuntu?
Ubuntu is probably your best bet, as they have a great track record with PC applications.

Wine has not been known well for Nexon games in general.

The biggest issue is Nexon’s game guard (anti-hacking softwear)

It is also really hard to know exactly what to do, as this game is still not public.|
My best advice is to pick up windows 8.

Oh, I have Windows 7 on dual-boot so I can play. But as I’m mainly a Linux user, I’d prefer to play Dirty Bomb under Linux (Ubuntu in my case but it doesn’t really matter) if possible rather than rebooting to Windows each time I want to.

So far, the main problem seems to be the Nexon launcher, which is completely black. Looks like it’s made from scratch (in Python?) and Wine can’t handle it. I managed to log in by entering my login/pass blindly but it doesn’t seem to launch the game automatically and the main interface seems unresponsive (and black too).
