Players switching teams

(PinkFrog) #1

Hi

Is there a good reason why the game would allow players to switch to the winning team during the match?

I would understand that it’s possible to switch to the losing team to help the match being better balanced. but the other way round? Makes no sense.

I would suggest that switching teams during the running match is either completely blocked or blocked for transfers to the currently winning team.

Thats all

I’m not sure how it currently works, but if any team has 2 more players than the other team, then someone should be able to switch over.

If some team only has 1 more player than the other team, then it doesn’t make sense to switch. (Whether winning or losing.)

Once we are allowed to purchase private rooms, then the owner should be able to set the team-switching conditions. (A practice server, used by a clan, for instance, would want to let anybody switch at will.)

Sometimes people want to switch to play with their friends.

Admittedly the stacks in this game can be godawful.

Yesterday I played a SW game 6v6 with 3 people in my team at lvl1-2 and one guy at lvl 4 or 5. plenty of ‘ggs’ from the opponents at the end of the game, love those type of people.

a) switching in a 5v6 or 6v5 (one player difference) situation should only be possible if it does not disturb the game balance significantly (two best players on the server shouldnt be able to play on the same team, all other things being equal)
b) switching in a 5v7 (two+ player difference) should carry a BIG incentive. Fixed +$ bonus? or skill-dependent bonus (the closer you got to balancing the teams with your heroic switch the better for you).

Atm. the devs. can’t expect a lot of people to switch when:

  • being on a very weak team can be very frustrating to play
  • you get less credits as the losing team
    a) how are credits actually calculated?
    b) seems like credits are awarded for everyone in the team equally, even the skill bonus? is it a collective evaluation of the whole team at the end of the map (how long everyone played, everyone’s skill bonus added together) - this would punish switching teams even more.
  • during stopwatch, you probably want to play against the time you set, not WITH it.

We often get situations like this in the game:

The server was full when the map ended but I didn’t managed to get a screen in before 4 people left. Nobody else in my team got more than 2 kills.

You always see the stackers say ‘gg’ and the losers ragequit. This is going to kill the game if not fixed on release.

All the new players getting into the game and getting completely swamped in their spawn will call ‘bad balance’ and ‘p2w nexon **** game’ and quit and NEVER try again

You do know that a lot of players don’t know how to switch teams in match. I for one will switch teams if the other teams are down players, but I don’t check the scoreboard while playing. If your team is down 2 or more say so in chat and I will come on over.

I have had players who wanted to switch teams to help balance things out but they don’t know how. They always say thanks for the info when I tell them how.

For those who don’t know all you do is type “switchteam” in the console.

I am almost sure you can’t switch teams if the enemy team has less than 2 player disadvantage.

In case the mentioned team had 2-player disadvantage, switching imho was by all means fair, even if the disadvantaged team was winning.

Another boring issue is playing 7v4 on 12 slots servers …not supposed to happen due to the number of slots. this need to be fixed to !

Forced team balance is the way to go. Want to play with a friend? go ahead - but it shouldn’t mean you can stack 6v4 or 7v4 or 8v6 or 8v5.

Balancing the teams needs to be a lot more forceful in this game at least in casual. You don’t want to balance teams? play matchmaking and enjoy rekking noobs there.

Or just do like me:
i always play with my imaginary friends - thus i have all the fun, and in the same time never stack teams!!

Forced team balance is a critical issue which needs to be addressed. Played a number of games yesterday where players would quit after seeing the teams; leaving us 7v4 or 3. Obviously no joy in being on the 3 member team especially when the f****** opposition starts putting turrets in your spawn and killing you as you appear.

When teams are unbalanced 7-4 let the other team know. Ask for a player to come over. Most of the time you will get 1.
If you see the other team is down take one for the other team and join them.

For those who don’t know type “switchteam” in the console to switch teams.

Let’s see…

In casual matches, I think it should force shuffle by skill at the beginning of the match. No need to let players build the teams, that just doesn’t work because sadly most people don’t want to play fair (and it’s not being rewarded). If people want to play with their friends, screw that. There is competitive for that, but if they want to play casual they should accept that they might have to play against their friends as well (which is really not a big deal).

When a team is one player up, I think it should allow players to switch IF the average skill level in their team is higher than the other. If that’s the case, there could be a message on screen with a button (e.g. F8) which players can press to quickly switch over.

Likewise, if a team is two players up, it would be nice if the game would ask players to switch.

Switching voluntarily could provide some kind of bonus, since players often have to sacrifice a good bit of rewards when they do so. It just doesn’t seem fair.

Finally this could tie into an autobalance system: If an unbalance is detected and no player switches for X seconds, it could choose someone by random (or somebody who’s skill level would promise the best balance after the switch).

So perhaps this could also be done when player numbers are even, and it’s just the skill level which is extremely unbalanced. It could ask players from the better team who are above the average skill level to switch, and if they do so, they would be swapped with the lowest rated player of the other team. Something like that.

It’s a difficult problem, but this really can ruin the game experience for players more than most other things (aside from cheaters). I think it’s far more important to fix this aggressively, rather than to be lenient about team composition.

Totally agree. Stacked teams are nr1 issue that saps the excitement out of the game.

Newcomers getting 2k xp after getting spawnraped for 15min, as opposed to defenders with +15k each will put off so many people from the game DB won’t get its wax on, before it falls from the sky.
