I was given a player name. Is there a way I can change it to my usual Player name

If you mean your in-game name; its tied to your steam account; presently.

I remeber having to open the console on W:ET and looking at what names people had in the past.

Some people were changing there names every 5 minutes I think. The only benefit in the past was that people would actively avoid the better skilled players as it ruined their game. So changing your name was one way to avoid everyone leaving the server.

Color codes would be nice, but I’d rather not be called ^4Lite^7go or something like that on Steam.

There are people in this thread wanting to have independent names in db so this wouldnt affect ur steam name.

Colouring your name could be achieved via an in-game UI maybe, where you pick from 8 colours and highlight what you want, then they could sell colour packs and such for real money, like $1 each.
Capped to 20 colourable characters, it applies a single colour per character until it hits 20 or there are no more characters.
It could maybe take 1 day to prototype code and an evening to hook it up to the UI and make a field in the player database.

Don’t be ridiculous, of course there would be a free set of colours.
And anyway, colouring your name would be completely optional and with no mechanical impact.

Yes, there is an issue with games charging for every little thing, yes it doesn’t solve the problem if the prices are even a one time $1, (not everyone is an adult/capable of getting money on an account) but don’t bring your spiteful comments into this.
