Player base falling down-triple AAA is coming
If they don’t fix the bugs and hacking issues, but instead continue to push out new mercs, then this game will deserve to die.

I know none of us want that, but frankly, many people are running out of patience. It is only a matter of time before the playerbase melts away, and a new game will be a typical catalyst for that. If the Overwatch beta beings in the next few months (which is predicted), and we are all still here complaining about bugs and cheaters, everyone will give up on DB and move onto the next big game in the hope that it wont be as half-arsed as this one is.

Splash Damage are on borrowed time, if they don’t sort the issues this game has, they risk Dirty Bomb dying, and on the back of Brink’s poor showing, their reputation too.
They have been putting out bug fixes instead of mercs. In fact, that’s entirely what the last couple of patches have been all about up until yesterday. And they are addressing the hacking issue and have commented on exactly what they are doing. A new AC system is already in place but they are currently testing it right now as it’s not quite ready for prime time.

And they have to continue to give out content because if they weren’t then there would be just as many people upset with the lack of content and see it as a sign that SD isn’t supporting their game (while dismissing the recent bug fixes). Yes, there is more work to do in all those areas I just mentioned but it’s not like it’s being ignored which your post seems to be implying.

Can you really call Overwatch indie? I mean it’s Activision Blizzard…

More balance and bug fixes from team would be suitable(with making Phantom only little more sneaky since blind fool can see him now :I) with Fletcher fixes and making less noice perk more better(since it is not needed even on infiltrators)

A new AC system is already in place

“non-indie dev”

(watsyurdeal) #25

If anything I’ve seen more originality from indie devs than anything else, that and smaller studios like Splash Damage and Respawn.

(god1) #26

Yeah they have the creativity but they lack the resources to properly pull them off. I have put thousands of hours into a couple of different ambitious indie shooters in the past few years that have fallen flat because their plans were too ambitious for their purse.

(Ghosthree3) #27

Because cookie-cutter sells and indie devs can’t compete with big companies using the same shit, so they have no choice BUT to be original. If I was working for Infinity Ward I’d pump the same shit out every year too.

(watsyurdeal) #28

That’s because game development is so God damn expensive now, and because publishers seem to think the more money they pump into a game, the more they’ll get. They’re just as stupid as Hollywood is, they don’t care about the quality of the experience, they just care if it makes money.

You want an idea of how greedy these people are? Watch this

If I were Splash, I would have made some smaller games and projects before delving into their opus, which seems like it’s Dirty Bomb right now.

Nexon seems like one of those companies who are all about micro transactions cause it can slowly bleed customers dry till they get their desired profits. Perfect World is the same way.

SD and DB are doing just fine.
And Nexon is an angel among most other pseudo-F2P publishers/developers. In comparison to Ubisofts, for example, Ghost Recon Phantoms, SD is giving away pretty much everything for pretty much free. And it alredy has more content than GRP, even tho latter is couple of years older… and DB is better optimized(not without it flaws, but still)… and devs dont hide their head in the sand and ignore problems for years at the time… or lie their arses off for no apparent reason.
And thats just one example. Pretty much every F2P title, by any major publisher, tests levels of decency to extremes.
Every cheap tactics they can come up with, they will implement. They dont make games for gamers, they make games for milking money. With literally minimal attention to content and details and maximum to various ways of milking money from customers. Instead of giving players best possible quality(withing reasonable defines), that would result in players giving money back for most silliest things(simply because they like it and they can), big companies are solely concentrated on extorting money. By any means.
And since, with current market, sky is the limit, players simple give them finger and move on. Exploiting well established title(by producing obvious and cheap garbage) doesnt work anymore.
