Play demos

(kakeroo) #1

i have 2.5 GB of demos i would like to watch and make frag movies. demos dated 2007-07-19 through to 2009-08-08 ect

at first i had no idea even how to play them, but i’ve learned a lot more about the game since. here is the error message and what i’ve tried so far. i first reinstalled the game fresh and only visited the clan server i played on.

Jaymod version mismatch,
client jaymod 2.2.0
server jaymod 2.0.5

(i don’t understand exactly what that means, but my guess is that the demos are made when it was jaymod 2.0.5. and the server now d/l into my game folder 2.2.0)

i’ve tried these work around(s):

i went through the available server list and looked at the server info for
game type: jmod
mod_version 2.0.5

i couldn’t find any.

i put my demo in all of these mods (with results)

nitmod (same result as jaymod error message)
etpub (no servers would let me connect)
etnam (a cool mod, but mismatch client)
etjump (mismatch client)
NQ (game crashed)
Silent (demo loaded but crashed with error ‘unknown event 135’)
etpro (same as silent ‘unknown event 135’)

no results for a google search for unknown event 135.

i found these pk3 files for jaymod
2.1.7
2.0.4
2.0.5.

i tried to delete jaymod 2.2.0.pk3 and replace them with those older ones. started the game. loaded the mod. tried to play the demo. same error message about version mismatch 2.2.0 vs. 2.0.5

any suggestions? anyone know why?

thank you

You should also extract qagame_mp_x86.dll from the zip along side with jaymod-2.0.5.pk3 and put them together in jaymod folder

thanks for the suggestion but i do not understand the game well uneough to even know what that means.

i solved the problem because i kept a game folder copy on an external HDD from those days, so i have a jaymod 2.0.5. folder to just place in a fresh instal

now if i can just get rid of the pumkin heads, santa mortars, and star wars theme end match music that was never originally there…

Fyi, a PK3 file is basically a renamed ZIP archive, which can be extracted. Just replace the extension, or use a software for this (like 7Zip)
