Planting bombs, destruction objectives

Personally I was a big fan of free planting, or being able to post multiple plants, because to me it was exciting in an offensive and defensive sense.

In order to be able to pull off a ‘trick’ plant, one still needs to be able have time to plant it and if a player has the opportunity to pull it off, that’s on the fault of the defense for giving them too much time. Of course, the same could be said for any plant in general.

Multiple plants were fun too, because it definitely added to the urgency of getting them disarmed, and those were my favorite moments of any of these games I’ve played. The line between winning and losing being so fine.

I think restricting to only 1 plant (if that is the case) is a bit extreme, personally. Doesn’t give the planting team that much of a safety net, especially since they’re typically spawning furthest away from the destructible objective.

We’ll see in 8 days!

Yeah.

Destruction charge setting is deliberately fixed-location as an easy fix for trickplants. That was mentioned in an interview i read early last month (I can’t find it right now, but if I find it, I’ll post a link)

Does anyone know this:
If I am a soldier planting a demo charge and I am shot/incapacitated after I hit the plant button/key but while the arming animation is playing, is the demolition planted? If not is it in progress where another soldier can finish it, or me if I am revived. Or is does it need to be completely restarted?

From the look of things in this video, it’s restarted when the Soldier is incapacitated.

EDIT: Watch from 0:35.

That’s another thing I fear will be worse with this system. Can’t just turn around and shoot someone in the middle of the process without having to start all over again.
At least arming seems rather fast.

Right you are, thanks.

Thats a good point, I would often put a plant on then see a defender coming, kill him and then go back to the plant, I guess you wont be able to do this in Brink. The charges do look pretty sweet though, its cool how the timer is on the charge and you can see it counting down.

I wonder what’s the purpose of the 3rd person view in that case. If you can’t stop the planting then there is no use for it.

(tokamak) #29

You can stop it, it just means you’ll have to start agian from scratch.

(Mustkunstn1k) #30

Even if you have planted the bomb on the wall? You can’t just continue to arm it by pressing the number pad?

(LyndonL) #31

It is what it is.

Hmmm…good questions here. I always assumed planting charges would be similar to hacking, meaning as long as you don’t run a mile away you could stop in the middle of arming the bomb then pickup where you left off, but the video seems to be different. Then again, arming the bomb looks like it takes significantly less time than hacking a terminal or building a turret, so maybe it’s the way it is to balance it out with the rest?

no trickplants ? no multi-plants ? :frowning: its seems completely TF2-ed out part of gameplay :*((

just make it like CS where you can plant anywhere in the general area, some areas are better than others.
