Planning a fun event

I have since long time a fun event in mind, where different types of Competitions together would form a fun ET event…
It would have competitions for singles, teams and bigger groups.

I have this since at least 5 years in mind, and I came to conclusion I will never make it - alone.
So I am looking for partners, people which have experience handling servers using scripts, no fear of installing a strange mod requiring some special glib version … blah (not saying that isn’t troublesome).

What would be cool if both Splatterladder and Trackbase would join in, and aswell announce it on their pages (well thats I suppose the smallest task); and host the results…

Then if different communities would join in, not going to name them - as I don’t want to miss any name in that list, the one I am in - just click on the pic in my signature.

In the end we need tons of participants, joining in the different categories. For singles that would be mostly trickjump, but I have some more ideas. For teams, maybe deathmatch and the usual ET game we know. And bigger groups - just a big war… Since its a fun event - we would need to carefully choose the maps - and define the settings.

Purely awesome would be if some coders would join in, and maybe provide some custom code for the event… if one has any idea for a fun competiton in the ww2 world enemy-territory :smiley:
I got for the month no time; I am just planning this right now. Also the ideas I got are already coded by myself or are existing.

At same level of awesomeness would be any mapper making an extra map for this… lol. Like goldendunk_a2…

But all in all I have some categories together, some stuff which has been never done. And stuff like Powerball (aka domination), Deathmatch, goldendunk…

If you want to join in, post or send me a message … if their is enough interest I guess the best idea is to create a group in this forum. I will go into more detail of the different competitions I have in mind once we have a little group together.

But what mod should be picken up here?

I’m for Etpro, because it is closest to vanilla ET!

Depends on the Settings for the match, for example powerball mod works only with powerball mod :penguin:

ETPro might be cool for the more serious categories, like teams fighting each other. Else for the big group … (32 players max) etpub might fit better or jaymod or noquarter, it does not matter much to me. Maybe etpro to introduce them to that… hehe.

TB will provide whatever is needed.

The main question is/will be: what will be the GOAL. Just having some fun? Domination (powerball) stuff or just jaymod/nq with goldendunk and stuff? Will there be matches? It depends highly on the ‘goal’.

Matches in different disciplines. Each discipline is different, one will surely be classis etpro 3vs3 I guess. But that is not the main target of the event. More the possible fun matches.

i would like to join it, but me and my clan mates will be for etpro matches only if its ok in this event.
How i could help it?? i can provide a server for the event (like the etpro server if necessary)

I would find it more interesting if you didn’t use ETpro at all.

In the Original post you said you had all sorts of scripts and ideas on your mind, but you didn’t actually mention any of them so hard to judge. At the moment you are just asking if there is interest in a competition of sorts, but apart from that you haven’t disclosed any information.

Maybe you could work with a point system. Each team or each person can earn points by joining in an event and winning (3 points for winning, 1 for participating?)
Then have all kinds of different types like 15 minute match on goldendunk.
Or first 10 people to unlock XXX on noquarter.
Or get the trickjump community involved - fastest time from the courtyard spawn to the bank (there is even a mod that can time this.
Powerball matches.

Try to get more people involved rather than just the hardcore ETpro scrim community.

Maybe even some kind of absurd challenges like fastest time to swim across a pool.
Most medpacks dropped in a week (and used)
…

EDIT: It would definitely be cool to have at least a few challenges per mod so people get to know the possibilities in ET. Like get 10 kills with the venom on NQ (So people really get to know the mods)

I guess my idea is mini achievements like steam lol :slight_smile:
