Placing Brushes

I’ve looked through the GTKRadiant manual for the answer but I didn’t see it or I don’t know enough to see it. I haven’t looked on the net too much because I’m not sure how to ask google this.

If I’m setting up buildings on a map, how do I know how far apart to space them? Aside from just guessing and testing. Is there an equation or math expression to calculate the width between buildings and walls based on the grids so it can be made to allow a certain number of players through?

I did read that steps should be 8 units high to be “normal” steps. Is there a similar comparison for Player’s dimensions?

If anyone knows and could answer or could help me refine my question and give me the terminology to use so I can search the net, it would be most helpful.

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I do believe that’s what I was looking for. Thank you very much.

Be careful with working with “real” dimensions… it just looks wrong from a players view and its too small for good movement. I recommend you build some basic rooms and doors and then have a wild run-and-jump-around to check on distances and heights and how it looks from a players view.

ALSO use
/cg_thirdperson 1
/cg_thirdpersonangle X (X is your angle, default is 360)
/cg_thirdpersonrange X (i test with a range of 200)
because this gives you a good idea of how the buildings look compared to a player.
I didn’t do that early and had to resize EVERY building in my whole map after the first tests with 2 players because the players looked like pygmies compared to the buildings.

Ok. That sounds like a very practical tip. I’ll be sure and do that ahead of time. Thanks a ton guys.
