ok i have looked at lots of sites showing the structure of a pk3 file but non show you where to put the lights folder and my map relies on the lighting effects im doing on House of Horror II so can someone tell me where it goes

What kind of lightning? Lightmap tgas goes under maps/yourmap/ (just like compiler puts em). If that is what you mean. Shaders goes to scripts. What else?
i have placed some lights on the map and some fire effects from GTk (right click Light) and i have gone into etmain and placed the lights folder (lm_0000 / lm_005) into the map folder of my pk3 (renamed lights folder to map name) but when i run the pk3 lighting shows as normal not effects i made.
as for shader file for lights i have seen nothing in tutorials to say you need a shader for lights ???
if i need one how do i make it ???
No you don’t need shader for lightning unless you have something special for example your own skybox, lightemitting shaders etc.
You need to compile with light, compiler puts the data to your maps/*mapname/ folder, just copy that folder and place that into your pk3 with same structure.
