pk3 question..be nice

(boxcar) #1

I wanted to change my loading screen to a clan custom screen. I read alot and was not lazy lol. I downloaded pakscape

open pak0.pk3 file and saved it on comp
I opened gfx file then loading file
I replaced camp_map.tga with new tga file i created in psp, saved as same name . Same pixels as orig
Replaced old campmap file with new
Saved new pk3 file as z_btf1.pk3,uploaded to et main and jaymod folder
rstarted server
no change

Question: What part did I leave out or do wrong?

Thanks

if it doesn’t work, then highly unlikely your pk3 is wrong. share it.

be sure the “folder tree” in your pk3 is the same as the original… and name your fil z_(yourname).pk3 so it get picked before others

Ok here I go again… Went back and joined server. I forgot to put file in my comp etmain folder. Maust have taken a few minutes to upload to redirect server. So this time made me download new pk3 file which was 217 mb? Does this seem right. Even with 700 kb/sec download rate , way to much for new players to download almost 5 min, I now know why it didn’t work first time. But file seems way to big. Will probably delete back out . Too much file to get someone playing on new server for just a new splash screen.

Thanks

You are supposed to add ONLY the edited file into your new pk3.

(boxcar) #6

whoops

that explains it

thanks

(boxcar) #7

Could you explain folder tree please. I think I know what you are tALKING ABOUT, BUT NOT SURE HOW TO create it in pakscape. I guess it would be gfx then loading, but not sure how to create that tree.

Thanks

Add folders.

(boxcar) #9

DOES THE WHOLE FOLDER TREE OF THE PAK FILE HAVE TO BE IN THERE OR JUST THE GFX AND LOADING FOLDER?

Wheww I Know…anyway I must be doing something wrong.

Here is what I did:
open pakscape
create new directory gfx
then in that directory…new folder -loading
put new tga file in loading file
saved as z_btf1.pk3
uploadied to et main

no go, doesen’t even make me download new pk3 file when joining server

hehe not really

(Wezelkrozum) #18

Argh…
Step by Step:

 1. Create a .pk3-file into the jaymod folder.
 2. Open the .pk3-file.
 3. Create a gfx folder in the opened .pk3-file.
 4. Open the gfx folder.
 5. Create a loading folder in the gfx folder.
 6. Open the loading folder.
 7. add the camp_map.tga into the loading folder.
 8. Close the .pk3-file.
 9. Upload the .pk3-file to the jaymod folder of your server.
 10. Drink a beer while uploading.
 11. Restart your server. And be sure it runs JAYMOD and not etmain.
 12. Look for the loadingscreen. And be happy when it’s yours.
uploadied to et main
If you’re using a mod, you have to add you custom pk3 to your mod folder, not to etmain!
It will not work if you put it in your etmain-folder.

Ok

opened pakscape

new folder… gfx

sub folder… loading

added camp_map.tga file to loading folder

saved as z_btf1.pk3

put in jmod folder

nothing!!

That rings a bell !!!
