Pistols for Medium?

(Phizuol) #1

Has anyone found success using a pistol on a medium body type? I played around with it briefly when I first got the game but quickly realized (like everyone else) that SMGs are pretty nice. I always use the Mossington primary, so the knife for melee is not really needed. I need a secondary that’s going to work well at medium range (or beyond if possible.)

Just curious if anyone else is having luck with pisols. Thanks.

Whenever I do pick up a pistol I have some success. The automatic one is probably the most entertaining.

Check out the C-eagle (Sea Eagle, you know like the D-eagle)

On my ops, I run with a C-eagle silenced, on my medic I run with a C-agle with Ext Mag, D-Flex reddot, and a speed holster.

If you’re using ARs, a pistol for secondary is pretty decent, but I personally used the Mossington as well (first FPS where I’ve actually been decent with a shotgun).

I mostly run as a Light though, so I don’t have a choice whether to take a pistol or not.

Have you tried the revolver? I believe I two hitted a medium with weapon buff.

If your going to use a pistol use the Sea Eagle, Then when you get good enough with it, move on to the Ritchie  but seriously just use an smg :expressionless:

Heh, yeah, that’s what I’ve been doing so far. Thanks for all the advice, I’ll probably try the Eagle a bit and see how it feels. Pistols just feel like an appropriate sidearm, but if it’s particularly foolish I’m not going to punish my team for it.

I can’t hit the broad side of a barn with the eagle but the Kalt with a muzzle, AIS, and rapid fire lets me chew through a person and makes an excellent LOLNO for anyone trying to revive.

I played around with pistols a bit solo, and then team vs bots. I ended up liking the revolver and sea eagle the best (favoring the revolver so far.) The other semi’s were too much clicking and the MP used up ammo way too fast. The pistols feel like an acceptable alternative to SMGs, but obviously require more skill (which I lack so far - working on that.) I also got brave enough to try playing against players, which unfortunately didn’t end real well, but in all of the situations where I felt a SMG would have been good the revolver was also able to perform well. At longer ranges a hit with the revolver definitely felt more effective than using a SMG.

It’s too soon to reach a conclusion but so far I’d say you’re definitely not wasting your time by wielding pistols as a medium (if only they had a light shotgun and I could go light.) I’m the type that has a hard time with automatics because I don’t like to let off the trigger under stressful circumstances. The “bam bam bam” of the pistols is helpful for me, I just have to get good with head shots.

Sounds like you want the Carb-9 with a drum mag! That thing loses almost no accuracy no matter how long you hold down the trigger

(Phizuol) #11

Well I have the shotgun for close range. I need something that reaches out a little better than the Carb-9. I’m sure it’s a beast though. =)

lol i love the ritchie revolver. the thing is so OP. the damage is equivalent almost to the light rifle. 2-3 hits usually downs anything

The Ritchie, to me, is basically a sniper in handgun form. Its a weaker version of the Drognav. The Sea Eagle is weaker, but far more practical for close-medium range.

As a medium, i only ever use them to have fun.
Drognav > Ritchie ; Tampa > Belgo ; Kross > Tokmak ; UMP > Kalt ; Sea Eagle doesn’t really have a light counterpart, closest would be CARB-9.

A light can have a lot of fun with just a pistol. You can slide, shoot, jump off the wall and knife someone in the face… But since a medium doesn’t have that same speed and agility, it’s not nearly as fun or effective.

120 damage to the head. buffed its a one shot headshot to lights and a 2 shot chest to a medium, it is also a 2 shot chest to a heavy buffed if im correct. so yah. i use it. but i dont think its OP. for long range its un usable, as the recoil takes it high but ALSO keeps it a few CM above the target, so u have to adjust again, that being said, close range. BANGBANGBANG! i literally can use it fully auto at close range, trigger finger FTW. best shotgun evar!

A buffed heavy can be up to 280hp, so they could take 2 headshots or 3 chest shots and still be standing. Even a lesser damage buff is enough to make either work though.

With its recoil/spread though, ive had the most luck slapping a COGA on it and using it like a sniper.

I use it with adjusted iron sights(the rod dots are rubbish on pistols) or the GReeneye(COGA/Red dot mix) i dont use rapid fire as im too lazy to unlock, with muzle break. And wow, tthat thing up close. I pwn anything.
