Add the effect to disable explosives with your knife, e.g. Proxy mines and Fletchers bombs. Still situational, but can be used to counter suicide mines and stickies left on healing stations.

Can you go a little bit on about how would it work? I like the idea of having an ability to disable automated defenses but how would it be executed? You go near a mine, take your knife out and do
…
something?
And regarding those stickies.
Most Fletcher players just spam the damn bombs and at that point it’s just more effective to run away or face the merc.
And in the end it just takes less time to shoot enemy mines and bombs.
This augment continues to be a living catastrophe and absolutely freaking USELESS.
What I mean is, attacking enemy deployables with the knife would destroy them without blowing them up. So emp’d mines, unarmed mines and armed mines (though you’d have to be quick) could be countered easier.
Could be applied to turrets as well, and possibly be able to one shot all deployables (healing stations and ammo stations) but I’m not sure how strong that would turn out to be.
And I mention sticky bombs as dead Fletchers often trigger their bombs when they spawn, so disabling them can be useful.
I’d suggest to buff the augment in that case to do extra damage against deployables, this would allow you to destroy health and ammo stations more quickly, buffing the augment without making it insane. (someone jumping on a mine and disabling it sounds a bit… op)

Two questions:
- How often are you gonna find an EMP’d automated defenses such as a mine or a sticky bomb if you aren’t playing as Thunder?
- How big of a chance do you have to be so unlucky that you’re just strolling around the battlefield, enemy Fletcher respawns, uses his detonator and your team has played it so poorly that they haven’t neutralized the damn stickies when the Fletcher dropped dead and you end up dying? If I see a sticky but no Fletcher I usually back off and shoot the thing out of the game.
In the end going near an automated defense just with your knife to disable it would pretty much require you to have the augment “Untrackable” with you. Otherwise you’re just running with your knife into your death.
@ForumArms I was thinking more of unarmed proxy mines that have just been placed. More often then not a suicide mine happens on a big group of people. While other people take care of the proxy, you could quickly stab the mine, saving the healing station and / or ammo station.
Obviously this change would be completely situational, but pineapple juggler already is, so any extra benefit would help XD and suicide mines can be annoying without a takedown.
Besides, I kind of prefer @Vallact idea of extra damage vs deployables, as that’s pretty cool.
Pineapple Juggler only affects explosives. It’s rather pointless to use because you’re still handling an explosive that will explode. Being able to just destroy explosives you melee without the boom would be a great change for the perk. Being able to hit Proxy mines that have already been armed would be okay IMO as they usually only kill when you had no idea they were there in the first place so it wouldn’t do much besides removing some of the risk of damage players get when trying to detonate them.
Pineapple Juggler is used to counter Skyhammer in competitive, and besides that, is an empty slot for all the other augments meant to go with it. If you want to use it to counter a Fragger, go ahead and get yourself blown up.
But Pineapple Juggler should only go with Cricket Bat, Katana, and Kukri builds.
I’d like to see a baton with longer hitting range and Combat Knife mobility. It would be better with Pineapple Juggler and could be a cool melee tool as well for Kira and other classes.
And sticky bombs on your face which you need to wait for it to despawn if the Fletcher is dead and doesn’t detonate it…YET.

Well, OK then. It seems actually quite a good idea…
But really, I would still prefer an augment that wouldn’t be that situational. And I mean, the augment isn’t at the moment but it’s just so hard to use and it requires so perfect timing that it’s pretty much useless.
So in the end:
- Your idea seems easier to use and because of that more useful.
- Your idea seems to be pretty situational because we’re talking about only two mercs here that should have their stuff armed or exploded on you BEFORE you start disarming the stuff.
How about making contact explosives just bounce or better, fall at feet, when body hit ?
And since the mid-air return is not reliable it doesn’t need to go.
That can be a pretty powerful vs Nader, but you still have to fall back so it doesn’t affect too much her area denial.
Against stocker that will marginally reduce its napalm effectiveness since that only spare you the direct hit damage and let you more time (already enough) to escape the flame radius.
And finally making stickies not to stick on pineapple merc seem sweet. But I’m not a Fletcher player so I’ll let them .
Since Pineapple Juggler is available to Bushwhacker, Proxy, Rhino, Redeye and Skyhammer have that augment that would mean :
- a consequent buff to Proxy vs Fletcher andNader
- a less consequent buff to Proxy vs Stoker
- a possibility to Rhino not to die that easily if a Fletcher is at a corner
- Rhino could have a third useful loadout even if the other augments are not that good but that is fair
- a big buff of Rhino vs Nader but reducing his bodyblocking ability (if the nade still have some random momentum on the floor) without impeding her area denial
- not a big deal with Skyhammer since other loadouts seem way better but that could give him a indoor loadout
- a non-turret oriented explosive resistant Bushwhacker with the SM41 loadout
- a really explosive hater Redeye with the G52 Loadout
The biggest issue with that idea is Rhino, because he is what he is, but I don’t see a real problem since that will not really help him more vs explosives that the extremely used R93 loadout with Nitro and Unshakable.

How about treating Pineapple Juggler as an empty slot, like how the Blishlock was used to compensate for better augments?
One idea I had thought of was allow players with pineapple juggler to have a mini grenade such as the v40 mini give it a moderate cooldown and low damage so that it can help in clearing areas
