physic objects in maps necessary?

evening,

don’t know if anyone of you noticed or give it any priority, but there are some physic objects in the maps of brink. one crate type and one barrel type of thing i think.

my question: do we have to have those in the maps? is it really necessary to have some “detail” in there that behaves weird when shot or are we better of without that stuff?

my opinion is to get rid of this stuff asap. it has absolutely no purpose other than consuming some cpu and probably network performance, and behaving weird when interacted with.

the small cardboard boxes that go “puff” when shot at are fine. that minimal level of interaction in the maps could use a little bump actually. some more destroyable stuff would be nice. good thing about those things is that they apparently are no physic objects. they just “puff” when shot at. no performance cost there i guess.

oh, and while i’m at it. what about the ragdoll corpses. i saw them fly around pretty nicely in the container city video by paul wedgewood. what about that? can we have this back? this looks so funny and would totally add some more fun to the game. screw realism. :stroggtapir:

Yeah I’ve been pondering those as well. They seem to be bulletproof as well which means the whole thing is serverside. And besides that they simply look odd and out of place. Either apply it to the whole environment (not an option in Brink obviously) or just don’t do it at all.

This game has a physics engine?

I hadnt actually noticed anything like this. One odd thing is that you cannot break the glass - but perhaps people on the ark managed to make unbreakable glass

Well with resources so thin, they either had to make something that could be easily replaced, or something that would never need replaced… indestructible glass it is then
