Phoenix's self revive, a suggestion

What if took some inspiration from the shock paddles, and applied it to self revive?

So you hold down the button, and the longer it is held down, the more health you get when you revive. It retains the 60 second cooldown but now it’s little more interesting. Do you wanna revive quickly with a small amount of health, or revive slowly with a full heal on revive?

I think it’d add a little extra depth to Phoenix, and make this ability more adaptable and slightly less situational.

so… quick tab to deny the finish, use revive shield to get behind cover, use healing pulse to refill?

(watsyurdeal) #3

You’d still have to get up, and if someone is already in melee range they’ll still gib you before you can get moving.

I mean think about the process, how long does it take someone to get up from reviving, and how long does it take Phoenix to perform a quick heal for himself? I imagine that’s plenty of time to kill him anyhow, wasting that self revive.

My point is that the long full health revive would be redundant.

The main reason selfrevive doesn’t go through 90% of the time is you get finished while still on the ground. So a quick tap that brings you into the the getup animation the moment you fall would be very beneficial.
Considering that you get a revive shield the moment you are standing makes the low HP meaningless especially considering that phoenix can and will heal himself.

In contrast a full chargeup only takes away the need to heal yourself after getting up. But trades it with a higher risk of getting finished and wasting time laying on the ground.

The thing is in situations where you would have the security/time to perform a full health revive is the same situation you can perform a quick rez + full heal without a problem aswell.

It could work IF the quickest way to revive yourself still took around 3-4 seconds. Instantly getting yourself up would be far too OP, while a 3-4 second wait would be fine if it only gave you low HP. Then if you wanted more HP you could wait 8-10 seconds or so.

(TheOrangePhantome) #6

@ProfPlump to be honest i somewhat agree with the stats of you’r view cuz it would be pretty op if you instantly got up and waiting 2 secs wouldn’t make a big difference but 3 secs for the fast rev ia fine with me.
But 8-10 secs for the long rev like dude that’s a lot. I think that 6 secs or 6.3 secs is where it should be.

Yeah it would be very broken if Phoenix could get up quickly because all you would have to do is get behind cover and charge up your heal. He already gets full health upon self revive and his self revive time is reasonable to opponents and himself.

Honestly I wish people would stop trying to suggest changes with him. He is an awesome merc and really can’t be any more balanced than the state he is in now. I’m afraid the devs might actually listen to a silly suggestion :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

(Grave_Knight) #8

Eh. Rather the cool down not activate unless you are fully revived or about half a second for the charge was shaved off.

(TheOrangePhantome) #9

TBH @Gh0st1e i haven’t played against or with Phoenix cuz i still don’t have internet but from the gameplay i’ve seen of him he’s pretty balanced.

Also when i start playing DB again imma buy a bronze nader card cuz i bought her recently and i love when i get the direct nade hits.

Which card do u recommend for her?

(Gh0st1e) #10

@TheOrangePhantome I dont play as Nader much anymore since they changed her but use her CR81 which has increased blast radius, reduced damage from your own explosives, and increased ADS movement speed. Now that she is slower, I don’t find the ADS movement speed to be that great but it is still her best card with the Crotzni IMO.

(TheOrangePhantome) #11

Ty @Gh0st1e i was wondering if i should get one of her SMG-9 loudouts but yeah the crotzni is awesome. And the reduced blast radius and taking less dmg from ur own nades sound’s good.

Again Ty!

There’s an SMG 9 loadout that comes with explosive resistance, increased radius, and more jumps for wall hops and such.

Honestly, I think that’s her best, the SMG 9 is actually not that bad. Better at long range for sure than the crotzni.

(Gh0st1e) #13

@Watsyurdeal I haven’t used the SMG 9 since it got buffed but I definitely like the sights on it better than the Crotzni.

I’ve always thought this would have been good. Obviously the “quick” revive should still be a few seconds and you should revive with a really minimal amount of HP. But it would add depth and be useful in a lot more situations than it currently is while most likely not making it extremely OP.

(watsyurdeal) #15

Well I think the real question is how long does it take right now?

And how can we scale that to be more interesting?

I’m sure we can think of a few ways, certainly would be better than the current.
