Phoenix QoL change?

So I was thinking about medics and stuff and… Phoenix’s heal right now is not that… available to really heal your team most of the times, it feels like it’s more to keep yourself alive and then whenever you notice someone could use it.

My suggestion is:

Healing Pulse heals only ~60HP at max charge, but has two charges of it, or 3. And to not make him heal himself every time he takes cover, increase the minimum charge amount.

In my opinion this would make him more relevant as a medic and shouldn’t really hurt his battle medic status.

Thoughts?

I just think the cooldown should be reduced

Already mentioned this several times, expecting Phoenix to be a dedicated healer is like hoping a single Sparks will keep your entire team topped off 90% of the time. That’s not how he functions, and he doesn’t need any serious qol changes for that

Your healing pulse should be on 12s CD at most, and that sounds very fair for an aoe burst heal

Healing a lot of people as Phoenix is definitely possible, and much easier than Sawbonez or Sparks. The trick is you need to be running like a Kenyan around to all of your teammates all the time, and fire the pulse off so that it takes no more than 6-7 seconds to cool down. You heal the people you can, and revive the ones you can’t. You won’t have time to do a whole lot of killing, but if you’re doing your job right your teammates can take care of that for you.

The main problem I see with Phoenix is his ability to heal high HP Mercs like Fragger/Thunder/Rhino. To fix this, the pulse should heal based on the Target’s maximum health. The fully charge Pulse could still heal for 90hp all the mercs with > 100 hp but a merc like Skyhammer should get healed for 105hp, Fragger for 135hp, Rhino for 175hp…etc.

His heal may be AOE, but his potential heal power is still significantly lower than the other defibrillator waving medics. A cool down buff would be welcome IMO.

I just want to have the Healing Pulse cooldown treated like a “battery”, much like Sparks’ Revive Gun does with its CD. The more it’s cooled down, the bigger the pulse I can fire - but bigger pulses add more cooldown.

I do think that in mid combat Phoenix has the best self healing, so I tried to think of something where he could be a decent healer while not filling his HP every time he gets into cover for a moment.
I mean, healing station pretty much “claims” the area, healing packs don’t heal as much when you get back into combat right after throwing one out for yourself, because Sparks Health packs are small already and Sawbonez Health packs healing over time gets canceled as soon as he takes damage.

Phoenix does quite well in competitive or Execution due to the cramped nature of the matches, and of course, his second life.

But yea, only an Aura and a good Sawbonez can singlehandedly keep a pub team alive. Usually you’d have another med there.

Phoenix does badly in competitive relative to sawbonez because of his lack of healing power (long cooldown) and people don’t bunch up so much.

Phoenix in competitive is really best as a secondary aggressive Medic to support a Sawbonez, Aura, or Sparks. His healing has a tiny but incredibly useful niche right in the middle of combat, it’s just extremely hard to time and give that 80 hp burst heal when it counts before your teammates go down
