Phoenix healing playstyle?

So, surprisingly enough, Phoenix gets me the highest xp/minute out of every merc. I tend to only tap the quick pulse instead of charging it, giving me 20xp for healing, about 20xp per merc if their health is missing, and a much lower cooldown, making it available much sooner. This also helps when your dingbat of a teammate decides to run away from you, letting you catch up with them then trying to heal them again.

What’s your opinion on how to use his pulse? Charge or no charge, or something in between?

If teammates are in a firefight, charged depending on situation and how many teammates there is.
For individuals, no charge or short charge depending on how much health they have.
Idk, that’s how I use him.

I don’t charge unless I’m long-jumping or behind cover period.

Offensively: I charge it like I do paddles, for the duration of long-jump only.

Defensively: I charge off my current health or health of who I am pocketing.

You should never really need to fully charge unless you’re pocketing for someone who really needs the health.

A tap heal is basically nothing and I hate it whenever a Pheonix gives me a measly amount like that. IMO you should always aim for more than a tap, but not over what is necessary.

I always give it about 1/3rd-half charge because healing someone kicks off their health regen so I top them off with maybe 15% of their health missing and let the regen do the rest and it has been working wonders for me

I hate medics who only tap. Phoenix or defibs.
More than often I played Fragger, get a tap revive and a tap heal by Phoenixes, staying near enemies with 70 HP. 10/10.
A good Phoenix knows how much he has to charge to heal his teammates as much as they need to be healed.
@Incoming pretty much said it. Never tap it, but don’t overheal.

tips for phoenix:

  • you are the 2nd tier speed merc, use it!
  • poke and heal is a very effective way to duel
  • use ‘4’ instead of ‘q’ to pullout pulse as you dont sacrifice mobility when charging
  • full charge 100hp for 12sec, tap charge 20-25hp for 6sec, full charge is twice as good in terms of hp/cooldown
  • when teammates are already in fight and they have 80% hp heal them for whatever you can. even 20-30hp can make all the difference in the fight and there is nothing worse than charging up a pulse and having the teammate die, wasting a juicy charge; plus a quick tap allows
you to jump in the fight and use your gun, rather than making a teammate try to fight alone while you charging
  • i was a long term fan of kek + drilled, but recently discovered kek + quickdraw + supplies to be A LOT BETTER, giving both more rambo and healing potential, and quickdraw minimizing downtime between healing and shooting
