the problem is that it’s easy to spot a Phantom unless he stands still, so you have to let people charge up to you which is a risky strategy.
Phantoms speed
The problem is that Phantom is a joke right now, relying on cheese, ham, and other sandwich strategies to do anything close to being useful.
Combine with a stupid cloak that puts him above 150 effective HP? A load of shit.
What if SD gave him a speed boost ONLY while under cloak? (Oh, and also keep his invisibility at an even 90 percent while moving, just to make him actually hard to track: leave the noise and remove the overshield effect)
At least then, he could sneak as intended.
I enjoy using him on defense, sit in a very narrow hallway while invisible, wait for the lone aura to charge though, then stabby stabby out of thin air 
I don’t get how people think that Phantom doesn’t belong in this game because of his melee mechanic with his Katana. Melee merc in Dirty Bomb is unacceptable but grenades, mines, artillery, LASERS… Lions and tigers and bears, oh my! I mean wtf?

The funny thing is that the melee is one of the riskiest weapons in this game, but allows guaranteed damage output as long as you can “set” the engagements to your favor, which is hard enough when anyone can see you while move in cloak -_-
Yet getting 1shot by a sniper with no risk TO said sniper is fine? - if you can hear phantom who cares about how invisible his cloak is? - you shouldn’t get melee kills with the noise: it’s a nice perc, but shouldn’t be a reason to disallow giving phantom a GOOD invisibility. - just my opinion. - If he has to be close enough to stab you and you haven’t heard him (regardless of sight) He earned that kill.
All this talk about melee all the time. What in the world except for the katana makes you think phantom is supposed to use melee weapons before his primary. I play a lot with phantom and once I started using his guns I improved greatly. What he needs is some usefulness for his team. Someone suggested he should have a spotting function that works similarly to Phoenix healing pulse. That would be super cool. Range of the pulse increased by holding it longer and phantom himself would be the center of the circle. That way you could scout out the enemies for your team.
but this patch brought nothing of the sort as usual. There are tons and tons of phantom threads just in this forum with many great ideas by different players but nothing ever happens.
i really enjoy his playstyle, but yeah he is useless, he could get something like spot granade that he can throw without uncloaking
Wouldn’t more speed just make his stealth even weaker in some cases? Faster you’re going the easier it is to spot you…
Phantom’s speed and Vasilli’s speed are still that of a 120 and a 100 health merc even though their health have been reduced and increased to 110 respectively.
@Naonna said it best, his cloak should really be for sneaking rather than waiting.
thus lower it’s noise should when moving should really be a thing, I’m pretty certain it’s even audable when he’s standing still and it’s very loud.
Maybe also increase his cloak length to how it was before too. The main complaints were his melee and that was adjusted along with a bit of an annoying attack speed snare to all melee heavy attacks (if the main problem was that he had too many attack frames with it, and those were reduced, why add the snare? even if it’s been made less frustrating.), but seriously if they’re going to swap characters health they should change their movement speed to match that healthpool, cloak/shield or no cloak/shield, unless a character’s meant to have more health than what their speed matches with an explaination that it’s a unique trait.
For example, I made a suggestion to make Phantom have 120 health but the speed of a 100 health character by explaining that the armor is durable but light weight, but no more shield applied to his cloak for example.

It’s related to how he’s walking not how fast. Ao if Phantom walked faster his crouch-walking speed would be faster, and crouch walking would be the lowest visibility next to standing still so he could theoretically be crouch-walking faster than he is now at the same visibility.
Personally I feel like his health and speed could be buffed if they got rid of the armor effect on his cloak.
Ahhh…well I’m not the most familiar with him…I unlocked him before they nerfed him, but never played him much even pre nerf. Been playing him a bit here and there recently.
I do like him, think I could do some good with him if I was a better player, but then again it isn’t hard to look like a decent Phantom compared to the ones who seem to play him like he doesn’t have access to a ranged weapon lol.
My complaints on phantom is his lack-of invisibility while moving, even slowly. Speed would be of help: nothing like aura-speed, but just a bit faster than his current state would be of help. (Assuming that moving faster wouldn’t make him any more visible than he already is.)
What annoys me in regards to phantom’s cloak/speed is that the intended use of sneaking doesn’t work over long distances. If a player spends meter getting to a good ambush location, he or she can’t stay there for more than 2 seconds prior to a forced de-cloak. After using up a full cloak meter, the time the cool down takes is long enough that after a small firefight, phantom can’t escape: win or lose.
(Also, his armor doesn’t need the temporary over heal effect: it melts if head shot anyways - even before phantom shoots. I’d gladly take a nerf to his health pool if his cloak was made reliable and his speed increased.)
