Phantom's refractive armor test complete.

Howdy ho everyone, THUNDA here.

I rarely visit this forum, or play DB nowadays because I was just sick of the whole game without any kind of changes right now, but still I’ve got some intel for you guys. (Still hope MK.46 Thunder would receive the right fix after more conc nerfs.)

This test was done by my KR DB community members and my own Ranked team VG guys.

I wasn’t in these videos, but whole things were recorded by KyoKyo_S_Jager.

Just ignore all the Koreans they speak, check out the vids.

  1. How much damage can refrective armor tank?[/b]

Caution : They both used C94 loadout which contains Undercover(makes your refractive armor lasts maximum 12.1 sec. I think it’s more like 12 sec, since DB’s digit calculation is not round up = give up whole decimal points)

This was my first request to testers.

I had my experience when I absorbed approximately 3 shots of Crotzni (12 x 3 = 36), so I assumed refractive armor could absorb around over 35 dmg.

As you can see in the vids, it can absorb maximum 34 dmg with 12 sec max duration, so 1sec = able to tank around 3 dmg.

S&W pistol does exactly 34dmg to the body, so as soon as you get hit by it when you are activating your armor, it can absorb single shot of it.

Chopper katana’s left click slash does 69 damage, so you can see he’s got 75 HP left.

But please note this is just pure theoretical stuff, because your armor gauge will immediately start to decrease as soon as you activate it, or just moving around.

So consequently, you will absorb around 20~30 damage in real battle which is two or three shots of average SMGs.


2. What is the best way to reach farthest distance while you are cloaking?

This actually turned out to be very interesting.

As we all know, phantie’s armor drains faster when you move quicker.

So we thought crouch-walking would both save the most cloaking time & mobility.

We were wrong actually!

Sprint while cloaking was able to reach farthest range among all.

But again, please note that your disabling time will also decrease even when you reach with cloak, and it is never safe against proper players who can easily notice phantom while he is moving.

Crouch walk is the most safe way to hide yourself while you are moving, unless you are already in position for wait someone to come to you.

Don’t forget phantom’s most efficient strategy is passage standing still-assassination because he is almost invisible while not moving.

So go ahead and disable aura’s disgusting healing station, spawn kill fast squishy female mercs with katana stabs, and PLAY DIRTYYY!

Additional info

  • Undercover used to be Phantom’s most vital augment when he originally had 10sec default duration with MUCH better dmg tanking ability back then when he was OP. Also, movment speed didn’t even affected the duration.

But 2016 May Thunder/Phantom rework has changed the base maximum duration to 11sec, and nerfed the Undercover to 10%.

Besides the fact that armor drains much faster than before when you move quickly, (least 5.5 sec, 6 sec with Undercover approximately.) 11 x 1.1 = 12.1 sec.

So there is only tiny bit of 1 sec extend for duration. If you move fast? it’s even worse.

You can aim for maximum 17sec disable with Undercover augment + staying still in perfect location, but still Undercover augment is literally buried in to ground these days.

also,
how is the tension in south korea?

there are many server infrastructure in SK, probably bad if it got nuked.

It’s quite funny SK is really really peaceful and calm country unlike every foreigners imagine.

NK always use nuke to threat other countries for money/food supports, so army dudes are the ones who are always in urgency when they LUNCH missiles to sea every time, meaningless. I’m gonna serve that obligation too, I mean soon or later. Poor me.

Instead, all of us are kind of tense because of Asia server connections. + Turtle is going to come out when I finish my real life call of fxcking 2 years duty.

I think it’s a hidden message/Easter egg, regarding the usefulness of the Katana.

It sucks/blows both ways. But it’s just a fan theory, looking too deep, overanalyzing :wink:

Yeah, it’s why I don’t mind at all if I don’t have undercover anymore. And that’s the reason I love the BR54 and CR54 loadouts. They don’t give a fudge about undercover, just cold hard efficiency. Please note though… that the BL93 and the CR53 loadouts have pretty decent and different playstyles as well.

Oh yeah, one more thing.

the vid was tested by C94 loadout with Undercover, but it only expanded the duration, not how much dmg you take.

So even without Undercover, you are still able to absorb max 34 dmg.

Sure, why not?

I was always on the helping side, noob friendly as someone who played this game near 2 years. Also wrote my own KR DW wikipedia by myself for beginners too.

As soon as I finish my draft on most accurate merc/weapon balance list, and problem between pub/Ranked gap, there will be one more thread about exact repair time of 1st phase EV with non-engi class and exact dmg of EV machine gun.
