Phantom's EMP Ability

(BlackboltLW) #1

…is the title click-baity or something?

Anyway, I’ve been thinking how about Phantom’s EMP also disrupts enemy Phantom’s cloak and Redeye’s IR goggle?

Not actual “disrupt”, to be honest. More like “giving static/glitching effects” to enemy Phantom’s cloak and Redeye’s IR. I mean the EMP disrupts electricity and both the cloak and the IR use electricity as power.

What do you guys think?

sooo that would mean both phantoms will be fudged if they get close to eachothers and redeye won’t counter phantom anymore
sorry but with the range of the emp it’s a bad idea

well, he would be invisible when he get inside the EMP radius. Otherwise Redeye can still see him.

At least until Phantom’s EMP and cloak become separate abilities, this will be bad.
If Phantom is reworked so his EMP is his 2nd ability and not connected to the cloak, then maybe it could work but idk

Spotting, EMP, and this ability, all rolled up into a dart-like projectile attack.

I don’t want Phantom to have an EMP field around him that only works in melee range. I want that fixed before Phantom gets any buffs to his EMP abilities.

Nah it’s okay.

Anyway, I think Phantom’s EMP impairing enemy Phantom’s EMP would trigger some kind of paradox or something since enemy phantoms would do the same and you both have the same AoE. What would happen ? Both invisibility/EMP are cancelled, and all friendly/ally deployables come back, but if you cancel his EMP it means that it wouldn’t affect you, but it actually did, you would get stuck in some kind of insane cancel loop that would probably trigger a black hole or something.

No seriously, infinite loops are the dev’s worst enemies. You might want to forget the idea of Phantom cancelling Phantom unless you think about this a bit more deeper to prevent the formation of a paradox state.

About Phantom cancelling IR Googles, I have no opinion. It makes sense, but I don’t play RedEye.

@Eox Thanks.

Anyway, I always forgot that I need to clarify this thread lmoa

By “disrupting” I mean it’s just giving static/glitching effect to the enemy’s cloak/IR goggle, not technically “disabling” them like what the EMP did. The purpose is to interrupt Redeye’s scanning activity, but not disabling them.

Simply put, it has no disabling effect, but only interrupting the player that has the goggle on.

But yeah, agree about that Phantom vs. Phantom scene.
