I enjoy playing phantom and I have been wondering how to make him a little more of a team player while still encouraging his flanking nature. Decoy C-4,this would have all the same warnings as a real C-4 and would also detect nearby enemies Phantom can plant this with no prep time on any secondary or primary C-4 objective and stay cloaked it would look different then the real C-4, for example have Phantom’s face instead of the number countdown and would have a 1 minute cool down but can be reclaimed. The decoy C-4 can be shot but if it is shot or it blows due to time it causes a flash effect similar to thunder’s conc nades or it can be disarmed at no consequence.

The concept of a decoy itself is not bad actually. But making it a C4 decoy is maybe not so nice as it would only work on a few locations, probably making it obvious. It should be something else in my opinion… But what should it be ? I have no idea yet.
What about instead of a visual decoy, it was some kind of audio decoy. For example it could be a small motion sensor sized item which could be deployed on walls and would make noises like a reved up minigun, or a proxy mine beep. Something to distract people/cause them to avoid certain side ruined out of fear. Or at most cause them to look into an empty corner at which point you or your team can stab them in the back. I really don’t know, but I have never seen such a mechanic in a fps game before.
What if Phantom had a false spotting grenade? It would be similar to the motion sensor but it would throw up some random diamonds and arrows on the minimap in the area it is thrown. Instead of actually spotting, he makes the enemy think his own team is spotted, when they might actually be on the other side of the map.
I have been reading your responses and how about this a decoy deployable of some sort that cloaks itself emits his sound and has a silhouette like phantom’s when he is invisible and detects nearby enemies. My idea is okay don’t make the cloak better but make it easier to sow chaos with both the audio cue and the silhouette make those to things scary!! 45 sec cooldown can be reclaimed the decoy would have about the health of his cloak so about 70- 80 hp.
Just make phantom an engie ( with better defuse and plant times) and give his cloak actual effectiveness at sneaking, he’d be mid-tier or possibly competative. Sneaking behind to plant would be awesome, even if he’s less useful in a direct firefight.
(A cloak meant for sneaking, but not moving? I don’t care how far away someone is: noise aside, anyone can see him crouch-walking: not to mention a full run. If SD does this cloak boost, they can remove his pitiful overshield-like effect. )
That long cool down also hinders his escape after a kill after all his meter spent sneaking around. - Playing against phantom at the moment is a joke: only his kek-10 is a little spooky to go up against: not really a threat any more than a bushwacker might be.
It would be useful for planting on side objectives only because putting it on a main obejctive and then having the defending team rush to the objective wouldn’t really help your team.
