Phantom (Please do not turn into and angry mob on me)

So this is a touchy subject, so I am going to be very careful here.

THIS IS JUST A SUGGESTION, DO NOT TURN INTO AN ANGRY MOB OVER IT

So I think phantom should lose the protective shield. Tweak the cloak effectiveness and duration up a LITTLE bit and I think he would be fine. This way he can still sneak effectively and players who spot him can fight back with a chance to win.

Another thing is make his melee more costly. If he lunges at a target, make him dedicate to it. If he hits, then he does damage. If he misses, then the enemy player can react before he gets a second chance.

If you really don’t want to get rid of protection, then let him be protected for 1 second on a hit. It would allow him to run away and try again later. It would cost him his cloak however and put it on a full cool down.

Thoughts?

(Yes I am aware this is after they have plans to tweak him, I just don’t want to see him nerfed into the ground.)

A good majority of people agree his shield needs to go from all the Phantom threads I’ve seen.

I think they should take a page out of TF2’s book and completely rework Phantom similar to TF2’s Spy. Perhaps make the Cloak simply a Cloak. Lower the base damage of the Katana, but make it hit harder from behind. I believe he should be more of a Ninja and not a Rhino with running shoes and a sword.

Edit: Another thing worth thinking about is aside from having an overly powerful melee weapon, he also has access to the most powerful SMG’s in the game. Perhaps he should only have a Machine Pistol, because when he’s played as simply a mid-range merc utilizing his high-damage smg and cloak for an overly easy escape, he’s still far better than most merc’s that play a similar role.

What they did to nerf the spy is not be able to attack right out of cloak. They need to wait till cloak is off until they attack.
