For me the fact that it is a complete new model makes it much more attractive than the head swaps + recolor we got for Fletcher, Stoker and Turtle. However I’m not a fan of the overly techno style or of Phantom for that matter (one of the 4 mercs I don’t own), so I’m not buying it. I only wish we had been given the option between a few loadouts for Arty as well :’(

Wait isnt artie more than just a head swap. Thats why he was more $$ than the rest

Exact, it was the only one of these new Obsidians that was an actual new model until Phantom showed up. That’s why I didn’t mention it when I spoke about “head swaps + recolor”

I just brought him up to lament the fact that back when he was available we had no choice on the loadout :frowning: I hope SD will continue with this approach of letting us pick from a few options.

Now only if i could pick my augments too.

I’d rather they turned skins for a specific character an unlockable, not individual cards, so getting a special card with character X would allow you to apply those cosmetics to any loadout you have.

Of course, that would be good for players and completely ruin the insidious uber-cashgrab they seem to be going for, so yeah, right.

Yeah, there certainly could be better ways of doing this, but what they did with Phantom is the closest we’ve got to being able to pick any specific loadout, I hope they will continue in that direction rather than go back to “take it or leave it” or RNG as we had for all previous Obsidians.

I suppose, but that “at least” just doesn’t serve as consolation for, me ya know? I mean, if the RNG and random skin-loadout combos were kept to the free credit boxes it wouldn’t feel as outrageous as when you’re actually supporting the game with real money and can still see it go down the drain that badly.

I think the skin is too “messy” to put it bluntly. Too much going on. The best obsidian remodel yet has been Fletcher in my opinion because of it’s simple design. Phantom just has so much everywhere that it’s not very appealing to the eye.

Now, had they given him something like THIS I would’ve thrown ALL my money at them because it’s just so appealing in it’s simple/stark design. More of this please.
