it seems there is a bug with it… i get seen from a long distant very easy. other times i am not spotted at all and it is a crap shoot if this person sees me or not… up close yes maybe see but down the block is a bit much. his stealth needs to be more consistent.
phantom invis...
His stealth is consistent afaik. Some people simply have better perception irl then others.
It depends on concentration for me it’s harder to spot phantom in the middle of firefight but otherwise i can spot them quite nicely nowadays. don’t know if it’s a thing but i see them more easily on lighted areas than on dark ones.
wow ardez fail much??? maybe you should read posts b4 commenting… ill help you out “i get seen from a long distant very easy.” maybe you should stop hating on posts that are trying to help the devs.
People detecting you while you are invisible and moving is based purely on their perception at that point. The faster a phantom moves the more ‘noticable’ he is. A more pronounced outline and some shadowing in your frame is clearly visible. It is up to the players perception at that point to determine your location and make use of that more pronounced outline.
If you are running around at sprint speed and you are in four players field of view that doesn’t mean that all four players actually notice you. Only one might. If that one player reacts and the rest don’t it doesn’t mean that the shield isn’t consistent, it means that the one player that did notice you had better perception in that moment. Maybe he just wasn’t as distracted or possibly he was simply more alert then the other players whose field of view you were in.
If you provide visual evidence of this I will be more then happy to review it and provide a more ‘educated’ opinion. At this time I haven’t noticed any inconsistency in the visual affect of his cloak. Also, determining this from the point of view of the Phantom is quite flawed because of what I mentioned above. If several people are staring at you, from any distance, and they all see something graphically different on their monitor then a problem does exist. If you just ‘feel’ that sometimes you get spotted sooner then that doesn’t help the devs at all.
I do appreciate you attempting to report a bug, but you don’t need to immediately jump to assumptions such as I didn’t read the post. You could always respond with additional insight or evidence of the problem.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post. I know it is long but I hope it explains my point of view on this situation.
blah blah blah… all the devs need to do is play a phantom… if they play/watch different maps they will see the inconsistencies. getting “visual evidence” is not possible w/o some sort of fraps, which i am not going to buy just to help the devs, that is what forums are for.
oh and trying to argue a point does no good. these forums are here to help the devs not for the moderators benefit or to share your ignorance.
oh and again no perception point should help you perceive a stealth target from 1 end of the road to the other(most of the map long). i have tested with a friend and got different results map to map.
So you tested this and didn’t provide any screenshots to show your evidence? You can take screenshots with F12 in game. That function is built into steam. Also OBS is a free program that can record your games if you ever wants a program that could do that.
Also, some maps happen at different times of day, such as Chapel being darker because of nighttime. Different levels of light can affect how visible his outline is in the match. Darker means he will be harder to spot.
Phantom is graphically the same from 5 feet away and from 100 feet away. He is just smaller 100+ feet away. At least that has been my experience. It really does depend on the enemies perception to catch on to him. You can spot a Phantom from a good distance if you know what the look for or get lucky.
you know argue all you want… this is a beta and reporting bugs are what players are supposed to do… don’t like, don’t post it is as simple as that.
I am trying to talk to you about this issue to determine if it is a bug or not. I love that players want to report bugs, but the information you provided simply isn’t enough to determine that it is a bug.
it is up to the devs to decide whats a bug and whats not… not us and definitely not us debating what is their job. and im done arguing with you about what is and isnt the developers responsibilities.
@SumDrunkBum
stop acting so childish and actually listen to other pps opinion , instead of blah blah im always rite
I believe from your “report” in the wrong section of the forum deems that this isnt a bug until further information is shown.
Ardez has been very polite in his responses to you from what I can see.
I definitely feel like phantom’s visibility is different on various maps though.
Anyone tested colorgrading in this context?

I moved it from Bug Report to mercenary discussion because I believed this to be more about perception of the cloak over an actual bug. Figured it might make an interesting ability topic.

the intermittent nature of this issue makes it a bug… perception would happen all the time and since it is not it is a bug… thanks for thinking for me though that is awesome!

there is nothing childish about saying “hey devs you might want to look into this, i am having this problem.” the childishness comes into when ppl try to argue when arguing does no good. maybe you should pad your post count in the general discussion lobby.
