Phantom Balance Suggestion

Chatting with a few friends we think Phantom can be more fair by dividing his cloak into two abilities that use the same energy pool.

Cloak without his shield.

And shield without his cloak.

I believe this would balance him out for public play making him counterable. It just felt a bit too strong with the shield being active at the same time and that it can stop lethal damage even while nearly empty. This should allow him to keep his current stats.

EDIT: Maybe a new visual when he only uses his shield?

Would be great if he was VERY visible when the shield is activated if that was the case,

I think it’d make him more balanced. Cloaked? you can shoot him. Shield? you can see him.

I can see it working…but honestly, phantom is a stealth guy, he shouldn’t take at all.

It’s the same thing with Aura, she shouldn’t be tanking so much damage with her healing station.

I see a lot of people suggest adjusting his health. But really I think his stats are fine. I just think his ability should be split so people can pick and choose.

Really my initial thoughts were to make blast damage disrupt his cloak but my friends think that would make him too useless.

One person I read wanted to make him too close to spy in TF2 (Please no). He needs to keep this action hero feeling.

I Would say just lower one of 3 things:
His speed,
His shield, or
His health,
Any of those would probably help quite a bit.

Love this either/or idea, do this devs! It actually sounds like a merc I’d like to play that way.

I think that idea is excellent. Just add a bit more restrictions there and there, maybe make some quality of life changes to the invisibility part, and we should end with something almost perfect.

Interesting. I was just checking the forums after playing a few games. Also just read your post. So far I just think his Katana loadouts shouldn’t have a decent SMG. The main issue I have is the fact he can have “Chopper” with one of his katana loadouts.

I like the idea of a seperation between the clock and a shield.
Maybe have a 3 second cooldown between cloaking and shielding though would probably be good. AND NO CHOPPER FOR HIM.
