Phantom actually nerfed?

There’s a discussion about the shortcomings of the Phantom changes this patch on reddit, and it seems a large consensus of people believe phantom actually would be considered “nerfed”, and not buffed.

I main phantom, and I find the cool down really annoying. Even if you cloak for 1 second, you are forced to wait 7 seconds before using it again. Like why? I agree with the other people that it makes Phantom feel clunky. I would rather not even have the EMP effect if it meant reverting back to the way it used to be.

havent tried phantom yet but one of his main assets was being able to constantly repeak corners while cloaked. this gigantic cooldown activation cost completely throws this out the window, so yeah looks like a nerf to me

Yep most definitely a nerf imo. Sure the emp is nice but still.
I guess we are just going to have to get used to it…

Not only that, but Phantom’s cards are worse than before. No knife loadouts, the katana is shittier, and they added the Cricket Bat. SD clearly didn’t know jack shit about balancing the class and decided to go the weaboo noob route.

Ive been trying use him, but seriously, the cooldown nerf (or change… whatever) is just too much for me D:
I want them to revert it back so badly but i know that’s not going to happen :frowning:

What do you mean about the katana being shittier? did it get changed as well?

They need to return the ability to what it was before the patch, then have the EMP as a second ability, it would do the same thing, but it would have it’s own cooldown

…you do know you can still buy the 1E cards, right? I suggest the one that has Enigma and Sneak.

As for his ability being a “nerf” not really. 10 meters is a lot of ground. You can be shooting aimlessly while looking for him and he’d be sitting right behind the wall laughing as you shoot aimlessly looking for him.

Not only is the range 10 meters horizontally, it seems to be same vertically. That’s crazy powerful in some places: team’s engi on Underground attack was able to plant 1st obj without a scratch in a midst of mines, stickies and a turret that I disabled by just having a brief, cloaked squatting session on the roof.

that sounds good to me. makes it more interesting and gives phantom a support role. Problem is that now he can’t do anything else.

agree the cooldown is super annoying. you want the cloak to get you somewhere and then you want to be able to cloak when you get there. now you have to choose. what is the point of phantom if you can’t use your cloak on the way too the objective/target while cloaking and de-cloaking. now you have to sneak around like the other mercs. this really feels lke a nerf. and the nerf to undercover was also completely uncalled for.
