"Perks" That cross classes?

(BeyondSpectrality) #1

I was under the impression that all skills, minus general ones were useful to a single class. But, something I never thought about was choosing skills that could benefit a class even though they don’t belong to it. For example playing as a Operative, but choosing the Engineer’s Upgrade Command Center perk.

From here I could sneak behind enemy lines take the command center, change to engineer and then upgrade it. Go back to Operative and continue playing.

Anyone else have any ideas for other class specific skills that may help other classes in similar situations?

Only universal skills.

You might be getting confused by the Medic abilities that offer more supply pips, which are functionally identical to a universal ability that does the same thing. So as a medic you can get +3 supply, but only +1 with the other classes.

Throw in an upgraded supply post, and you can have 8 pips as a medic.

This man says otherwise, unless it is a glitch ;o

No, you quoted out of context and failed at reading comprehension. It’s explained a few replies later. You should’ve asked in that thread, not click on “new thread” first.

I think Transfer Supplies should be an universal ability. Medic already has enough abilities affecting teammates, and this would allow for some interesting combos. People who don’t use much supplies in their builds could help teammates.

Yep, if anything Medics need supplies more than say Operative does.

Wow, I do believe that you are a class act “A-hole.” You do not know what I received in my classes at school. I read the entire thread, the following posts are:

Which you are right, would imply the original poster was wrong. AND I quoted an entire post, it was not out of context.

The later post:

This could imply that he wants people to believe what the above poster is saying is true so less people use the skill.

Although I should have been more clear in my original post, this:
Yes- but if you’re at a command post, you can switch classes…

Love the bit about firing a shot to confound intuition, this thread is full of gold.

The nice thing about pistols, is they give you a knife melee- as an attacking operative, you basically get one free shot at them, and the knife does so much damage it’s a great opener.
I never thought about something like this.

It works for medics as well. Sure it requires a command post.

Anyway I will edit my original post to convey what I meant more clearly.

Sorry for the vague original post I’m on mobile, takes so long…

The Command post abilities could be used by “another class” since you can just switch classes, upgrade, switch class, firewall, back to original. But thats just abusing game mechanics, not really cross over. Wouldnt really apply to anything else unless you make a habit of camping command posts.

If you are looking for cross-class ability synergy, there are plenty, but that doesn’t seem to be what you are asking.

Wolf:et’s NoQuarter mod had a bunch of these skills that made it really fun to level up.

There were also aura skills, like Level 5 Field Ops that caused teammate’s stamina to replenish really fast. I loved abusing that with another fops on transmission objectives. SD should do some things like that.

I agree completely! Supply Transfer is the perfect universal ability as every class has supplies and giving them to a teammate in need is exactly what Brink is all about.

(TheMonk) #10

yeah i’m definitely gonna +1 this bit

Do turrets disappear if you switch from engy to another class ? How about mines ?

(Shadowcat) #12

I’m almost certain they dissapear, but i dont play engi enough to have noticed.

(farnsworth) #13

Yes they do.

I do the “switch to engineer to upgrade CP” thing all the time while playing as a medic, mostly.
