Performance Issue - Not using all GPU power

(iCore) #1

Hey everyone !
So, I’ve been enjoying the game lately but I have some performance issue.

Basically, the game does not seem to use all the GPU power (even though Vsync is disabled).
The result is that in some part of the map and in some explosive moments, my FPS dips below 60 FPS.
Not that it is completely umbearable but is really noticable and for a fast FPS i find it quite penalizing

As far as my config :

  • i5 2500k
  • 2x 560ti

The DXdiag report :

SLI is enabled, Vsync is disabled

OC your 2500k as this game is heavily dependant on your cpu-frequency/speed.
Gpu-Power, at some point, is quite irrelevant/useless.
4x4Ghz brings my game to either around 70 fps MINIMUM without, or 150 fps MINIMUM with OneFrameThreadLag enabled, but prepare for some odd “feeling” until you get used to it.
This game (or the whole engine?) simply isn’t optimized to us people beeing used to some flowing, high-fps, gameplay.
Some other solution would be using some fps-config, where you probably would get some 120+ fps oc’ed without having to turn OneFrameThreadLag on, but it’ll lego your quake-details even more.

This is a well known problem, the game is not very well optimized yet and your CPU will always be the limiting factor for FPS. I can barely play at 900p with my AMD 6950 2GB GPU and my FPS will still drop to 40 or so during intense gunfights. Probably because I’m only using an AMD Phenom x4 9850 OC’d to 2.75GHz.

The main settings I found that helps is to use Fullscreen with VSync and OneFrameThreadLag on, for some reason when playing on Windowed/Borderless and VSync off my FPS drops below 10 regularly but on most other games these settings work best, not this one.
