Perfomance fixes for nvidia

(ailmanki) #1

Well I have this Laptop v3-517g from ACER, thing is I got only 30 fps - or less in DirtyBomb. I found this strange, as I can play other new Titles without stuttering.

So first thing I found is that “gamelauncher.exe” is already covered by a Profile Need for Speed or something - I deleted the profile already days ago - so don’t know its name anymore for sure.

The problem is, its a profile which comes from Nvidia - so deleting it, is not so simple, and creating your own profile for that “gamelauncher.exe” is not really possible either with the Tools given by Nvidia.
Well correct me if I am wrong, maybe there is a way - and I just have no clue.

Recently I discovered a tool NVIDIA Inspector, and amongst overclocking and infos, it allows to create and modify those pesky profiles!

The hole page is in german, but the tool itself is in english

Now once started, find the button right of info “Driver Version”, and click it.
Now the Profile customizer should open… There find Need for Speed, and delete that profile. Then create a new profile, add the executable gamelauncher from DirtyBomb… if you like edit it here, but be carefull - I guess its possible to create some havoc. Then apply the changes. Exit that tool.
Open up Nvidia Settings panel (the official one) … find your created profile, and set graphic card to nvidia (at least mine was set to internal…).

Then join a DirtyBomb game and enjoy improved perfomance.
I am curious what SD thinks about this procedure, I am victim of the placebo effect?
As such, if this can have indeed the effect I believe it has, wouldn’t it be better to rename gamelauncher.exe to something else? Would make it easier to create a profile with the nvidia tools. As I believe now it uses the one from Need for Speed if you got a Nvidia card.

Specs of the Laptop:
i7-3610QM 2.3GHz
Nvidia 640M
8GB Ram
SSD Samsung 840 Pro (replaced it myself)
Windows 8 pro

just one thing, gamelauncher.exe is the server browser.
the actual game program is ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe
so dont you need settings for that.

Well in that case it would be only needed to create a profile for ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe … to bad I didnt notice earlier.
But it works now, as it seems ShooterGame-Win32-Shipping.exe takes the stuff over from gamelauncher.

30 fps seems fair for this laptop … i barely get double fps with a i7 nehalem and a 660Ti in my tower pc …
