Pepper - Female Medic from India

(jubilantManatee) #1

Pepper is a ex military woman from India, trained in the Indian Air Force, and now freelancing in London looking for her sister who may have survived the Dirty Bomb. An athletic disciplined military woman, a strong and beautiful presence. She may dress in a blue aviation jumper, with an ornate neck scarf.

A medium range healer, she has an AOE Nanite healing spheres, that she tosses out by the handful. They have a medium spread, and “pepper” a location with healing “pellets”. If a pellet contacts a friendly player it heals for ~15 health.

She also is equiped with medic paddles.

She has a shotgun loadout, and machine pistol loadout.

She could potentially introduce a “streetsweeper” shotgun - a weak automatic shotgun with huge spread. A pepper cannon. Or a new medic smg, the OZI. A medium damage smg.

I think there is potential here for an interesting merc addition. More diverse medic options might help promote more players actually taking on the medic role.

Can you fill us in on details such as health, movement speed, cooldown on ability etc.
Thanks!

Hrm, I like the idea. It’s like an offensive version of the healing station.

My take on her:

90 HP
430 Speed

Primary:
Crozni
Hochfir
Ahnuhld-12

Secondary:

Tølen MP
Caulden
DE .50

Melee:
Beckhill
Stiletto Stilnotto
Kukri

E:
Defibrilator

Q:
Throws a “Nanite Healing Spheres”. The throw itself behaves like Fletcher’s Stickybombs and also sticks on surfaces. Each NHS generates 3 Nanite Clusters each 2 seconds within a radius of 2-3 meters.
They are small, glowing, teamcolored orbs with the size of a heartbeat sensor and the hitbox of a small med-pack. Touching one instantly heals 10 HP.
The NHS itself has 30 HP and is about 2 times bigger then a Stickybomb.

Cooldown for each NHS is ~20sec
Max lifespan of a NHS is ~30sec

Maximum deployed at a time and in reserve: 3

I imagined she would be a (medium) distance based healer, something not in game currently,

With interest in making distance healing balanced, each throw contains 5-7 ish nanite orbs at a time, in a wide shotgun styled pattern. So it “peppers” an area with light healing.

Having 2 handfuls banked and available to toss, and a cooldown for refill maybe ~ 6 seconds.

Im pretty open to input on her stats.

I am fond of the idea of an Indian woman being in a video game, I cannot think of any game where a hero (ine) was from India.

I think its totally open to adjustment / interpretation.

My thought was that the “nanite spheres” were something like a shotgun shooting a cluster of weak medpaks (that only work on direct contact to the target. Any nanites that miss are destroyed ((because they are fragile?)).

That way there is a skill ceiling involved - a new player can just shower an area and provide some use to the team, and an advanced player could use them to pocket heal one player or keep a push moving by throwing to the players who are advancing.

So a bit like the spreadshot from devil daggers

Yeah I can see that working out. I’d even say give her more charges then 2 for more fun.

Yes, something like that idea. More like a multi unit Nan(ite)-ade toss, with a large spread so hitting a specific target at range will take some skill. Though you are likely to hit with at least one, since the area is peppered with many small nanite projectiles.

Hence, the name Pepper.

I think 2 handfuls is a good start, as the ability to heal from range would be quite useful and would need to be metered. And the perk Extra Supplies grants one more deployable, right?

I think there is some merit to this idea for a new medic.

She could have a slew of custom skins, particularly if her bio is from an high tech Air Force background. Special Edition cards with Aviators, Goggles… And the voice lines could potentially be some of the best in the game.

And I love full spiced Indian food, have several Indian friends, and dated a beautiful Indian woman - im not biased…

So why would one want to use Phoenix if this merc exists? Better aoe healing. I’m unsure about the cooldown in comparison to the total amount of possible heals.
