Pendant Model and Rock skin strangeness

(hummer) #1

So, I’m using some of the desert rocks by SD in my project. They work fine on my end, but on anyone elses machine, the skins show up as the organge and black grid. No other models do this… just the rock models. Anyone else experience this / know the fix for it?

Also, the pendant10k model, under models/mapobjects/light/pendant10k.md3, shows up as the red, green and blue X Y Z axis on other peoples machines, but not mine. I haven’t tried the p_nolight.md3 as an alternative, but again, no other models do this, only pendant10k. It shouldn’t even be an issue since it gets compiled into the BSP I thought…

Both models show up fine in radiant… what gives?

Some textures and models were only released through the SDK, and I think the desert rock textures were one of those things (as well as the snow jagdpanther). You probably just need to hunt the textures down and include them with your pk3.

Not sure about the pendant problem though. :???:

When I play your map on my development environment, I see everything fine, pendant lights and rocks

Hmmm… I found another one… the missle skin isn’t showing up. Or shells, etc.

Iffy: I’m glad someone else does  Everyone else can’t…

Guess I’ll just add em’ to the pk3 and see if that changes anything.

If I was you I would use only models and textures found inside pak0. Radiant does come with a bunch of models that it puts inside the models directory but obviously to use these you have to put them inside your own pk3

Also happens with some of the trucks.

Glad I saw this, saved me some headaches I’m sure

As one of the SD guys metnioned ages ago, you should have at least two copies of ET installed on your machine, the development version and a clean version for testing.

include the skin files in the pk3, i also had problems with it with desert fortress.
