I dont know if the problem is to the new anti cheat, but every second game i play 5vs4 or 4vs5. Both not fun.
Whats the penalty for leaving comp matches? Seems not enough…
Penalty for leaving comp game
I could be wrong on this but I believe the only penalty is a competitive matchmaking timeout, meaning you cannot search for a new game for x amount of time. It’s difficult to implement any other penalty because then it gets into dangerous territory because the only other things they could take away from us are credits, or experience.
Same as LoL. You cannot join a different game. This prevents “dodging” out of a losing match to go look for a better game instead of trying to come back.
You can’t impose credit based penalties, because sometimes people just get cut from the internet or the PC crashes or their grandmother has a heart attack. Not fair to penalise for these things, and they’re more common than someone dodging a bad game.
Worst case is an already won game gets won even harder. Sure the team losing is sad, but that’s not comparable to someone losing actual value for technical reasons. Can you imagine the support system if that were the case?
Not to pick on a single individual or topic here, I happen to see this response to a pretty large variety of suggested changes; “it’s not fair to do this or that because sometimes it’s not completely their fault.” The worst ones to me are the comments claiming that “it’s not fair to give a reward for this or that because some people can’t get it.”
Somehow that always sounds kind of childish to me. What happens when your grandmother has a heart attack and you skip work? Sure, in some cases you have the leeway to just float by in work and get paid with 3 or 4 different types of time off based on the “it’s not fair” mentality. What about a truck driver on a delivery from Tallahassee to San Francisco, the fabrication crew on a deadline for a big event, or the sole owner/operator of a new startup business like a restaurant? There are many other profession specific events that could also occur I’m sure, but in any case they’re going to be the ones paying for it by either making it up with longer hours to meet deadlines, or just losing pay… that is, by losing their real-life credits.
It’s not really a huge deal, but the mentality definitely seems to be prevalent these days. It’s just one more area where people pander so much to consumers (and in this case not even necessarily consumers, but potential consumers) that people seem to develop a disconnect from reality… life isn’t fair after all as Edward DiPrete once (probably) said. (Right? He was the governor of Rhode Island once I think… so he must have said something like this, surely.)
Anyhoo, that gripe aside, I too have suffered at the hands of immature players in competitive. I’ve played maybe 20 or so games, and all but 3 of them have been populated almost entirely by players under level 10. Generally the first reaction they have is to start throwing a fit cursing at me and giving up before we start or just straight up leave the match because I’m level 30, and as a result clearly matchmaking is “completely broken.” It’s a bummer, but I keep hoping that if I continue playing it and get a reasonable rank then maybe I’ll have a higher percentage of matches against more mature players which would make for some great games.
I’ve literally never been in a competitive match where someone ragequit. It’s always people dropping out of the lobby for some reason.
In perfect world, there would be a system that would detect if it was internet/pc thing or a user thing. I don’t know it its possible, but I hope It will somehow be in the future.
Internet issues are pretty common where I live, but thankfully it never happened in competitive.
SD should implant a biger punition for leavers. Like you can’t join an other ingame party (already here, with like 10mn, 15mn, 1days, 7days like CSGO you had after the match end.
It’s a pain in the ass.
luckily i’ve never gotten disconnected from a competitive game yet due to internet issues, but in the last month or so, there has been power outages about 6-7 times, due to lightning striking the the hydro plant, causing massive “provincial” outages. where power has been out for up to an hour or more at a time, last one occurred 4 days ago.
Perhaps its a server problem, okay, its annyoing. They dont get comp working since i play this game. First u have cheater, now people leave or get kicked. Comp is broken. All talk about new mercs, talk about fixing the core game.
The matchmaking ist just a joke. Where is the sense of a team with 3 lvl 5 newbies and 1 8 and one 7 to play vs 5 times lvl 9+? btw, no party.
But it seems no one take care of it.
THis game is in open beta, normally u use this for fine balancing. So much is missing right now.
Player base still falling down. No advertising. This strategy to become a big F2P comp shooter make no sense for me. But hell yes, we will get a new merc!
