pcx help

(stealth6) #1

so I have been working on some terrain and I ran into a problem.
Now when I compile a few triangles in the center of the map are invisible (like caulk).

Weird thing is I haven’t touched them at all, I have touched other triangles like removing the ones around the edges that players can’t see, and some of them got ruined when subtract was used so I merged them back together.

I was having another problem that the terrain was also moved to the right in some places by 128 units, I solved this by putting back some brushes on the left side of the map (that I had deleted) and regrouping everything and adding the keys again.

hope somebody knows a solution

try putting back some brushes on the left side of the map (that you have deleted) and regrouping everything and adding the keys again.

(stealth6) #3

that wasn’t it, I remade all the effected brushes :frowning: and then it was fixed! very strange though cause I didn’t edit them before and I checked in 2D view but the weren’t moved at all not even the slightest bit.
So I guess they just got corrupted or something

(IndyJones) #4

are u compiling under radiant 1.5, ie newer q3map2?

(stealth6) #5

I use netradiant q3map2 version v2.5.17

also connected to SVN so should be up to date

i experienced something similar, but it wasn’t related to pcx file. try compiling under radiant 1.4 with it’s default q3map2.

I have the same thing, but i had the terrain working before and it was looking nice. Did u do anything with the shader or pcx? cuz i have.

Maybe a solution make a new pcx with easygen and change the name of it and change it in your func_group.

If the pcx file is totally so that there can’t be any blending and stuff, is it showed then or also invisible?

(ailmanki) #9

terrain and pcx . ain’t that linked directly?

Lets say you have 10x10 brushes, and a 10x10 pcx, you cannot just delete stuff at the corners… except you know exactly what you are doing. Also ain’t terrain func grouped?

(stealth6) #10

well as I said the problem was already solved by rebuilding teh effected brushes and then remaking the func_group.

Also pcx and terrain aren’t linked directly as I have deleted big parts, but you do have to keep the dimensions right as the pcx file is pasted over the terrain from left to right. So if you delete a row of pieces on the left side (like I did) then the whole blending effect is moved up lol

and I didn’t edit the brushes that were effected or the pcx file, it just suddenly happened

and I guessed the problem was something to do with the pcx file since it was a problem with the textures and the pcx file makes the textures work so i thought texture problem -> pcx file

when you generate a terrain in easygen and you want to remove parts of the terrain afterwards do not delete the two terrain brushes in the corners. radiant needs them to fit the alphamap to the terrain. all other terrain brushes can be deleted.

if that would be your terrain from above the O´s should not be deleted
