PC: Please change the revive/buff interaction

(trollface) #1

Things that i find could improve in this regard:

 • Targeting incapacitated players (waiting for the blue outline) is ineffective and takes too long, sometimes up to two seconds or more.
 • Auto-Following players, both movement and camera wise is very annoying with a mouse and keyboard.
 • Pressing and holding buff/revive(teammate) key is pointless. Why not a single press?

I dont want to seem like a PC elitist, but the fact is, the action happens so much faster on PC that these transitions from console doesn’t really work well and hinders gameplay. Many times it feels like needless frustration. You’re not the one doing a mistake, you’re waiting for the game to catch up.

So i’m asking, for the sake of your PC fans SD, please consider a way to make these interactions more “on the fly” and direct. Just like we don’t need aim assist, we don’t need auto follow. As long as the targeting is precise.

PS. I love this game.

Not casual enough for you?

(Pumpkins) #3

It feels slow on consoles too… I’d prefer if it was tightened up like how you suggested.

Class actions should be performed with a one button press. I play on the 360 and I think the class action should be replaced with A (jump) because it’s not really used. That way, actions can be snappy and instant, not laggy and unresponsive.
Not casual enough for you?
That makes no sense.
Pressing and holding buff/revive(teammate) key is pointless. Why not a single press?
So you can abort it. That’s useful sometimes.

(Pumpkins) #6

How is having responsive controls now considered casual?

You wouldn’t need to abort it if the controls reflected exactly what you wanted.

(Gearbox) #7

Also, please prioritize revive over health buff. I keep trying to revive a teammate only to chuck my last supply into healing a bot with half a pip of damage.

(Does the system prioritize Fireteam members? It should)
So you can abort it. That’s useful sometimes.
I’m not talking about self-buffs.

This whole game needs a pc facelift.

(Metal-Geo) #10

Actually, I like the current way of interaction.

The great thing about it is that you run faster when you want to buff a player who’s out of reach. It’s hilarious and useful! Especially if you play heavy!

If there’s going to be some changing, it should be optional. Not forced.

But I agree with the whole ‘wait-for-blue-outline’ thing with incap’d players.

(Deadwalking) #11

The only thing I agree with is when trying to revive or buff and the player you are trying to perform this action is in a corner or against a wall, then it rotates you around 180 degrees roughly.

Otherwise everything else flows great.

As for the waiting on the blue outline I have seen this a number of times and it is annoying ,but that is client server latency kicking in. If you are on a server with enough bandwidth and resources, and your connection is not being stepped on by the neighborhood or your ISP. It is nearly instant that the outline pops up. Maybe they could adjust some network code to alleviate the issue, but I would rather time be spent on performance issues for the community, rather then nerfing something someone dosnt like personally.

Facelift ha, I say NAY!

+1, this is one of the many changes this game needs but that would be a good start

You don’t have to wait for the outline to appear, just aim at their mid-section and tap F.
