PC hardware experts: please speak up!
Damn your countries prices are expensive.

~ 1600€ for PC, ~ 300 for monitor

My suggestions:

CPU:Intel Core i7-4790K, 4x 4.00GHz, boxed
CPU cooler:be quiet! Dark Rock Pro 3
RAM: 2x 8GB Corsair Vengeance Pro rot DIMM Kit 16GB, DDR3-1866, CL9-10-9-27
Graphics card: MSI GTX 970 4GD5T OC
Mainboard: ASUS Z97-Pro, Z97
SSD: Samsung SSD 850 PRO 256GB, SATA 6Gb/s
HDD: Western Digital WD Black 512e 1TB, SATA 6Gb/s
Soundcard: ASUS Xonar Essence STX
PSU: Enermax Platimax 600W ATX 2.4
Case: Corsair Obsidian Series 550D

I don’t know if you prefer certain brands, so I just chose my personal suggestions. (For example: Asus or Gigabyte for the mainboard is only a question of faith )

Monitor:

Either BenQ or Asus with at least 120Hz and FullHD. Go for 24" instead of 21".

To answer some of your questions:

“Will this play dirty bomb at a minimum of 144 FPS on high settings?”

Dunno, because I play only on low. But should be.

“Should I buy a bigger case for future upgrades or is it big enough?”

No idea what you would like to add in the future, but it’s big enough.

“My goal is to get a high performance and stable gaming PC.”

You will definitely have this! You will have the fastest Quad Core CPU available at the moment combined with a very fast graphics card. (Crysis, Metro, … )

“I know my power supply is probably overkill, but I would buy it with eyes on the future (2nd GPU,…)”

For SLI you would need to upgrade your mainboard, PSU and probably CPU. Doesn’t make sense with your current budget anyway, as it makes only sense on high end.
Thx for this Rex!! Yeah maybe expensive because i chose a webshop with location close to my house for easy costumer service

If I get all the things you listed with a BenQ 24 QL2411Z(299euro) I need 2166,70euro :stuck_out_tongue: What webshop do you use to get this below 1900?(screen included)

Is a sound card necessary(199,95euro)? Can you realy hear a difference?

having close customer service is handy, but I haven’t needed it in over 10 years, stuff integrates quite well with latest OS

you could always check out tones, alternate too

a soundcard isn’t necessary tbh

So this guy can’t buy from Amazon or Newegg in any way?

And when it comes to buying a special CPU cooler, I’d recommend the Noctua line. Also, only overclock the cpu if you get the crazy i7’s… no point on an i5.

(MrFunkyFunk) #25

Toon, you don’t need a 200€ soundcard. Get a Xonar DX and you’ll be MORE than set up for any gaming related stuff.

The only thing the webshop near your location will do is sending the defect hardware back to the manufacturer.

Well for me the final price is exactly like I estimated. But I order in German webshops obviously.

Just to name a few: mindfactory.de (my favourite shop for hardware), amazon.de, hardwareversand.de, caseking.de, …

Nope, it’s not necessary to have. But it’s nice to have and as I was even below your max budget, I decided to add it.
Yes, depending on the audio chip on the mainboard there is a big difference.
By the way the sound card “ASUS Xonar Essence STX” is for me around ~150-160€.

You are right! I am going for a different webshop. The difference is just too big! Thx!

2 original post:

Go for samsung ssd, at least 160 Gb, dont go for OCZ SSD, had bad experience with them. Samsung are top at the moment. Easy decision.

Go for as people said BENQ or Asus 24’’ 120-144 hz monitor. (i got benq XL2411t)

I’d not save on the computer case, as on my taste the cable management, button/connector positioning and loudness have to be top notch. Don’t forget to check space for gpu/cooler/psu.

I personally prefer to go for 900-1000 W platinum fully modular psu’s just to buy and forget (lack of power doesn’t necessarily lead to non-working pc, it may decrease yr pc performance w/o you noticing it immediately, e.g. gpu will perform not on full power. I prefer not to worry about power.

Same goes for RAM - go for 16 gb (2x8), see for example what rex suggested. Corsair vengeance is always a good choice.

Didn’t check all of the thread but you originally wanted to get a 1TB caviar HDD as a secondary drive - why? It would make more sense to me rather to get a normal Samsung or WD 3TB drive (e.g. WD black). Drive space is smth that must never lack!

What else… I’d personally never go for an ATI gpu and for MSI motherboard. Nvidia gtx 980 basic or modded (I prefer EVGA ACX-cooled and overclocked GPU’s - guaranteed quality) and Asus motherboards will suit you well for the next 5+ years (yes I prefer not to upgrade too often).

And one more thing: ditch that belgian local store and order parts online. Some german online stores are much cheaper and quite reliable.
The last one I used was mindfactory.de, ask Rex

ps. will need to upgrade myself soon. Still can’t choose a proper pc case. Love NZXT cases but they have strange sizes nowadays. Was also looking at Obsidians with some interest. Dunno.

Thx again realy helpfull!

for the case: I read some good stuff about cordair cases (nice cable management and sound proofing) but there is a loooot of choice and brands;p

(meat) #31

Love my corsair obsidian 800d. you could stuff a cat in it and still get good air flow. excellent cable management.
