Ok so at work today things were pretty darned slow, so I had some spare time inbetween doing the usual boring work… so I decided to do some data analysis on the faults being reported here. It was more for my geeky curiosity than anything else, but also to see the pattern of faults coming in etc.
I didn’t have much time to analyze much data, and could only categorize about 50 reports, but it gives a little insight into the most reported issues affecting people the most… normally i’d analyze at least 150 issues, but well time was against me and so was concentration
The spreadsheet is broken down into tiers. Tier 1 being the main sections that issues fall into, so Hardware, Game, Install and Online… those were then broken down into sub-categories to give a little more focus to each issue. Again normally i’d go into more detail in the tiers to more accurate reporting… but well I only went 3 tiers deep. The categories were loosely put together, but it was for fun, nothing serious! There’s a guidelines section that explains what criteria was met for that reported issue to make it into that tier
Interesting notes so far. 50% of reported cases are in the hardware tier, I counted this as performance issues, crashes to desktop, system freeze or full reboots. I would normally do this to identify key areas for issue, and those affecting us most would get the most attention 1st so a fix would be put in place quickly for the issue causing the most headaches.
Again this was very quickly put together and analyzed, don’t take it too serious if you find mistakes.
