Playing as security, on of my bots carried the bcase actually away from the objectivo into the crane hole and stayed there, just fighting. I had to “escort” him to his death to win the match. CCity BTW
PC AI: Constructive Feedback Thread
I had problems with those objectives too. I do think the bots should leave the carry items alone, and instead concentrate on supporting the human player - which they do reasonably well. There is one map where the opposing team (all bots) absolutely flood the area, and make it very hard to get to the drop-off point - it seems like their spawn is a bit too close to that area. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name (duh :)), but it’s mission 8 of the Resistance campaign where I had problems.

For some reason the friendly AI seems worse in the Campaign than it is in Freeplay (Day 6 Early Launch/ Shipyard as security was hair-tearingly frustrating in Campaign but actually easier in Freeplay at the same difficulty) - I wonder if this has something to do with the patch note about AI intelligence inhibitors being removed in Freeplay.
Main problem seems to be that the friendly AI seems to have no sense of urgency or teamwork when it comes to attack objectives, while the enemy AI does. They might still be going for 2ndaries with less than a minute left for the main plus they seem to arrive at objectives piecemeal so quickly get chewed up by enemy defenders.
I am getting a couple of problems so far ( I am on PC).
When I’m on an offensive mission, the defensive AI seems to be devastating. They cluster hard around the objective, head shot entirely too often, and never seem to miss. While my team’s AI seems to be the polar opposite. They run all over, seem to be made of paper, and have a hard time hitting anything.
I have been through the Rebel campaign, and it was not too bad, but now that I am at the second mission into the Security, which is mostly offensive, I have hit a brick wall.
I’ll admit my twitch skills are no longer what they once were (getting older), but I’m not THAT bad, and a few of my buddies that picked up the game are having the same issues.
The other problem I’m finding is the multi play. Its terrible. We have a hard time getting together on matching, we have issues trying to connect for co-op play.
Is anything being planned to fix these?
The attacking team AI seems to be the major issue left in the game. I’m speaking about “hard” difficulty against a high level player.
I would love to have the ability to “promote” certain objectives to your bot allies making them more of a priority. Furthermore, and perhaps more importantly, I’d love to be able to call for backup to prevent you AI teammates in reasonable range from running in to a fight alone and getting slaughtered.
The problem for me is that this game is so heavily centered on teamwork and selflessness, that bots should always maintain a high level of team awareness (with a focus on the human allies). Let difficulty scale by making them less “skilled” and the enemy more so, but keep the teamwork optimal.
Basically, having bot “teammates” that aren’t as skilled with their guns and other weapons while the enemy is very much so can be frustrating, sure, but that’s what you get with higher difficulties and higher level characters. What’s maddening is “stupid” AI that don’t act much as a team. They run in guns blazing toward an entrenched defending enemy team seemingly without any concern for backup. You have to be lucky in timing your approach just right so that your respawning bots push the line with you and you can back them up. And then there’s the lack of good priority management toward objectives on top of it.
AI difference between enemy bots and friendly bots is astronimical. Enemy bots have no recoil and can strafe sideways landing every shot for an instant death from even long distances. Friendly bots just stand out in the open bairly shooting with terrible accuracy. Every now and then I’ll just stare at the kill feed and watch red killing white over and over. There’s probably a 10:1 ratio or higher of enemy bot kills vs friendly bots. I have never played a game with bots that are this enraging. How is it ok to have the lowest XP bot on the enemy team higher than any bot on the friendly team?
After playing some more, I’ve realized whoever worked on the AI is just ignorant along with whoever designed the turret as well.

This is exactly the same problem I’m having. I’ve played through the second mission many times but can’t get the datakey to the objective.
I tried the exact same level, same difficulty in Freeplay and not only was I successful but also got the achievement for winning in less than 30% time.
Others have already posted the issues with the “campaign” AI succintly, Faux’s post in particular covered the majority of my findings and therefore I endorse his comments.
Loving the game, but the AI is “odd” at best.
Two things get to me the most:
-
Bot grenade spam - they just constantly throw grenades, even on easy
-
There is an endless supply of them - as your team mates do very little, you have to take out the 5 or so enemy in an area. As it takes a long time to mow them down, the first ones you killed have respawned.
The objective tutorial really shows these two issues well, with the explosive charge being more about “luck” that they ignore you than “skill”
What I’d like to see
- Enemy respawn based on how many people there are, so on single player bots have say 35 seconds to respawn and it decreases 5 seconds with each human player
- on easy levels loose the grenades (or at least throw them infrequently)
- Objectives like hacking, on easier levels the bots don’t immediately defuse
- Hacking objective specifically should resume where it was, once you replace the hacking tool
At the moment it doesn’t feel like the bots are hard, it just feels like
I’m seeing a lot of people say that bots have more health & stringer bullets then they do. i’ve never encountered that. Ironsights + bursts + displayed health meter makes taking down bots very easy. You can even tell who’s the medic & ones doing the objective to prioritize targets.
I hate bots. Only want to play humans, but I think I am playing against bots often and all you said is true. I have medic bots (or noobs) that literally do nothing and have the lowest XP score. I see people play engie and don’t even buff their own weapons. Its brutal.
On defense(enemy bots) are ridiculous and head shot like mad. How can I get these guys on my team?
Another suggestion…Kill cam or death cam.
This is not to identify where a person was shot from. This could actually be avoided entirely, except I think there are two main benefits from adding a death cam:
-
The cosmetics get to make yet another appearance and people can see how cool you look with all your elements.
-
The cam will include GUI that shows how “buffed” that person was at the time. This will encourage people to buff as they see more successful players killing them while buffed and it will prevent that helpless feeling of “We were using the same gun, how did he kill me after I had already unloaded half a mag into him.”
A second suggestion. Remove self buffs. The number of people taking Engineer because it is the camping/kills class now is depressing. They get the most objectives, can give themselves the most powerful weapons, and get kills from the only two set-and-forget systems (mines and turrets). I can see leaving the self buff for medics or soldiers, but both would serve teamwork better to disappear.
Is this a good place to complain about S.M.A.R.T and its spinning you around like a tool sometimes when you are trying to Com Hack / Copy Disguise?
Its possibly the most annoying thing in the entire game when you end up dancing around your target until it disappears or someone kills it denying you a coms hack. Not sure it fits in this thread but it is an AI thing right?
I’ve been raging like a bitch with Hard but now that I think about it, an Insane level would be quite awesome.
I find it boring if I play on Normal or Easy, the enemy AI just gets mowed down
love the game… wont bore the devs with a thousand points…
just one… DOWNED FIRE
one thing you could tweak is when you are down… and firing at an AI bot… you should be prioritized as a threat and shot at immediately… currently you can mow the whole AI team down over and over until one of them spams a grenade or they get close enough to stomp your head…
cheers… love the game…
Alright. I’ll repeat what has been said here several times.
What do they have? ****ing godlike reflexes, aimbots. What do I have? Chimps with guns.
Seriously now.

Being on offence is tough. Even on easy mode, bots will tear you up in no-time.
I’ve tried Sec. mission 6 seven times now and its impossible. The most we’ve got the hack to was 3%. The enemies spawn so close and once the hackdevice is gone, you start all over again.
Medic bots are suicidal. They will blindly try to run through the entire enemy team and get torn apart before getting half-way. Its nice to be prioritized, but when they die, the entire team suffers.
Bot hacking takes waaay too long. They will attach the hack-device, but will often take out their gun and run around instead. And if they do hack, they will run some distance away, even if its into an open area where they are more exposed to enemy fire and sit quietly until they get killed. (even if the area next to the hack-device is safe)
And this is the main problem of any hack-missions. AI rarely hacks and will not defend hack-areas.
Engi, soldier and medics should get a ‘defend hack objective’. This is in some missions where you will get this as an objective, but in other missions there will just be a ‘hack target’- objective.
Don’t know if this would help bots be more defensive or help out more around hack-objectives if all of those objectives were changed to ‘defend hack obj.’
Turret AI is rubbish. Long lock-on times, low health and narrow FOV only makes the turret viable as a targeting dummy or something to hide behind when fighting enemies. Bots and players alike will simply run up to it and blast it before it can even get a shot out.
It needs to be more agressive and shoot as soon as enemies enter its FOV or when it gets shot.
And AI with grenades is nightmare. God-aim everywhere on those, making sure you’ll have one waiting as soon as you get revived. Or when they throw them just inches away from your turrets every single time…
I really wish AI would use less grenades. (or at least reduce their accuracy with them) They are quite powerful and with an entire enemy team sitting on one location, trying to attack will often end up with half the attacking team dead in no-time, as grenades will fly everywhere.
I do like that bots are very helpful with armor, ammo, heath/weapon boosts. They split up to cover several objectives, but the flaw in that is when one team covers serveral objectives and one team only has one or two, making every encounter unbalanced in terms of the number of players from each team.
I like the game, but right now I’ve hit a brick wall since AI hacking is proving somewhat problematic.
With support, this game can be greater then it already is.
Just played some maps on hard. It’s really hit and miss with the attacking team AI. I’ve seen some awesome play on some, but on others I see bots standing around doing nothing at all and then getting shot in the back. Generally it comes down to picking objective class everytime and making it work for yourself and hope for the best. It’ll work at times, but the initiative almost always has to come from the player to make the difference.
I can take on a fair few bots at once usually, although every now and then I get mown down without having a clue who did so much damage to me so quickly.
I’m getting extremely frustrated with the AI. On one occasion on Shipyard a friendly stood for 2 minutes out in the open apparently “hacking” something. I’ve been switching back and forth between Early Launch and Critical Reaction but they’re impossible. It’s too easy to defend and incredibly hard to attack, respawn timers need to be changed right now.
